the 1st single, the 10+minute "Silent Genesis"
πππππ
very The Dark Third-like. 1st few minutes sound like Aeropause pt 2 in some ways.
Not a stretch, but with Dirt Poor Robins Dead Horse, Alaska coming, this may be a co-favorite for an AotY, but we'll see.

The duo say in a statement: “We stuck to our manifesto of no musical boundaries and the result was Eupnea.
“We
return to a more progressive sound with ferocious guitars, thunderous
drums and the stacked harmonies that give us our signature sound. We're
excited to begin playing it live.”
Yeah boi πππππππππππ

Pure Reason Revolution announce ‘Eupnea’; their first studio album in nearly 10 years
Last year, Jon Courtney and ChloΓ« Alper reunited the much-loved Pure
Reason Revolution, playing their first show in close to eight years at
Midsummer Prog Festival and performing their debut album ‘The Dark
Third’ in full. Today they are excited to announce the release of
‘Eupnea’, their first new studio album in nearly 10 years, for the 3rd
of April 2020.
1. New Obsession
2. Silent Genesis
3. Maelstrom
4. Ghosts and Typhoons
5. Beyond Our Bodies
6. Eupnea
6 tracks? EPICS???????? πππ
The media market is huge, thus the need for a media review market.
This is our little contribution to that field.

PURE REASON REVOLUTION: Sign to Inside Out, NEW ALBUM 2020
Very excited to see this, a new album that is like The Dark Third? I wouldn't mind if it wasn't and more like their other records, but I can't deny I still consider TDT a CLASSIC and my favorite of the 3 albums they made.
2020: another HUGE ANTICIPATION...of course Ours new album is coming in 2020 and it seems some others like dredg, Steven Wilson, Pain of Salvation...Pepe Deluxe too.
Fantastic..kind of wants me to go back to The Dark Third now, lol.
PRR are 1 of the bands from the 2000's I miss and I'm hardly alone in feeling they had more great music in them.
Now? I wonder if with Social Media and many years of people hearing their music, the new record might see them find a revival of fandom..old fans coming back, and maybe newer fans who discovered them after the break-up.
Plus new people who never knew them before, etc.

We’re very pleased to announce that we’ve reunited PRR. We played our first show in close to 8 years at the recent Midsummer-Prog-Festival in the Netherlands, performing ‘The Dark Third’ in full. The festival & crowd reaction was incredible. We were touched that people had travelled from Canada, Russia, Italy, Spain, UK and many more countries. The tracks are as exciting as ever to play & it's encouraging to see the material still has relevance and connects.
We are working on a new studio album and have signed to Inside Out Music - the album will be out in 2020. The material for the new album returns to a much more progressive sound & by doing the Dark Third in its entirety, it’s nice to remind ourselves of the genesis of PRR.
We look forward to seeing you in 2020.

Pure Reason Revolution REUNION in 2019!
It's only 1 gig at Midsummer's Prog Festival in the UK, and of course not something I likely will be making (I've never seen them live unfortunately), even though the festival falls around my birthday.
Will this lead to more? who knows. I suppose it is worth noting how Chloe Alper's projects since PRR's breakup have been slow to happen. Tiny Giant have released a few singles and plays live at times; and I know there has been stuff about their debut album coming, but it was at least 2, maybe 3 years ago.
Jon Courtney's band Bullet Height did finally put out their highly industrial-influenced debut album in 2017, but I was only luke warm about it.
I.e. as a huge fan of PRR, I would love to still see them make more music and play live, even if it is independent while simultaneous with their current music projects.
I guess we'll see next year. Unlike some band break ups in the last decade, I recall the PRR members ended on good terms and said they planned to reunite at some point in the future. I guess 2019 is that year.

MEW: Artists recommended like/for fans of them (RIYL/FFO)
Ok, so this is the 1st one of these.
It ended up relatively long, and with blurbs. And I'm sure more names I'm not including will come up, which maybe I'll edit this, or maybe make a 2nd, etc (a Chamber Rock entry I've decided needs to be made in general).
But I can't say if the blurbs especially will continue, especially since I can see many of these being MUCH LONGER in terms of artists. Twitter-length or less and maybe or maybe not a link/youtube video.
I guess I'll see.

Mew are a great band who while when I 1st got into them, I found their music reminded me of some music I was familiar with and liked (namely Sigur Ros), I came to feel they were pretty distinct. Their style of Dream Pop/Rock mixed with progressive rock really stood out.
But I did come to discover other bands who shared varying levels of similarities, most of which I enjoy to different degrees.
Team Me: Norway's answer to Mew in a lot of ways. The songwriting (and the energy namely) is what works for me even if they remind me of Mew in a lot of ways.
Jazzkamikaze: Also from Denmark, their 1 album with vocals (that I know of) that is more rock-like, 2010's Supersonic Revolutions is a lot like a Jazzy-version of Mew (or like if The Reign of Kindo has a vocalist like Jonas Bjerre). The closing track "Acropolis" almost seems like the sequel to "Comforting Sounds."
I will include the fact they have some albums/eps I've yet to hear, that may be like Supersonic Revolutions. But the others I did hear were largely instrumental Jazz albums (albeit pretty good though).
Also to note, Marius Neset of Jazzkamikaze, plays saxophone on the new Mew album Visuals.
Deas Veil - the Album All the Houses Look the Same uses some synths and has atmosphere that reminds me of Mew, maybe mostly from Frengers. The vocals, while not identical, are higher pitched like Jonas from Mew. I am a bit slighted with them as I haven't listened to their music in many years. I recall the follow-up album Birds and Cages not being as good, but it is actually rated higher on rateyourmusic. And they followed that one with a Self-Titled album, but that one is not rated as high as the previous 2. Maybe they differ most from Mew being "emo" or even Christian at points, like the band Mae? Regardless, worth checking out if you want to hear music similar to Mew.
edit: songs "Surface," "Shoreline," and "Shadow and City Lights"
Time of Orchids - This band is mostly on here per the vocalist at times sounds like Jonas Bjerre. And the fact they are definitely experimental and progressive. But they probably have more differences than similarities. However, they are (or were) an incredible band, namely if you like experimental, quirky and schizophrenic rock music.
Fields - "Anglo-Icelandic" band. The debut album Everything Last Winter that came in 2007 was quite good, and it reminded me of Pure Reason Revolution a lot, but also Mew in some ways. The Dreamy element with some of the bass riffs. A 2nd album was to come in 2009 I think, and it was recorded, with demos on their myspace page, but unfortunately, it wasn't to be per the record label dropped them literally a month or less than the release date in March from memory.
Dreamy vocals between male and female. I even recall on the Mew forum, some people talking about Fields.
Pure Reason Revolution - They're likely going to have to have their own RIYL/FFO, and a larger percentage of Mew fans know them per them touring together and just a common suggestion in the mid/late 2000's.
On paper, the Dreamy moments, namely with the vocal harmonies and some of the trippy layers and textures are what they share most in common. Also a pop element I suppose.
I suppose they largely just fall under being such a good band who have elements that they share enough, and are done well enough, that Mew fans very easily could like them.
Kimbra - She's a huge fan (even addressing her fans online as "Frengers" at times). And she even guested on Plus/Minus (as well as Jonas guest vocals on a bonus track on her last album The Golden Echo)
Musically, progressive/dream pop/rock in a general sense is similar. She uses a lot of falsetto vocals as well. I suppose it's hard to not say or think she's influenced by them, just listening to many of her songs.
Carpark North - This name I guess falls in here largely per I know there was a large percentage of fans among Mew fans. It probably helps that they are also from Denmark (like Jazzkamikaze),
Musically, I only was lukewarm about them. And I don't know how much their sound really shares in common with Mew, but large numbers of taste of a fan base should be worth something.
Paper Route - I'm mainly including this band in that after a couple of really good EPs, they released a debut album that had some moments I thought about Mew. Although they would be more recommended for fans of Mutemath (a band they opened for). I guess with some falsetto vocals including harmonies, and use of synths, I can't help but think some Mew fans may enjoy them.
Sadly, after those original EPs, my interest kind of dwindled. But I guess even just for those EPs, they would be worth checking out.
Dream Pop/Rock.
Crying - I stumbled upon this band within the last couple of months. I don't recall mentioning them in here, although I may have dropped their name once, I can't remember.
They received a fair amount of comparisons to Mew where I saw their name, on the rym message board.
At any case, they have a female singer who does actually sound somewhat like Jonas, but at the same time, has her own voice. A bit like Time of Orchids in a way.
Their music? beyond the vocals, is like Mew in that it uses progressive rock in some ways, and textures. However, the jury is out for me, partially per I hear a lot of Mathrock and 'core elements at points. Why I was not grabbed hugely by them, but I have only heard their debut album Beyond the Fleeting Gales once, and mean to give it more time.
But just based on my perception and the content online about Mew with them, I would guess they would appeal to at least some Mew fans.
Agent Fresco - like Sigur Ros and Fields, they come from Iceland I guess. And they are a band who with their last record, Destrier, they received a fair amount of buzz and with that, comparisons to among others like (22 and The Reign of Kindo), Mew.
I am on the fence about them. I assumed I would really love them, but got a bit lost in their last record, expecting brilliance. And if/when it came, it was so subtle, I struggled to need to go back to it. But unlike some other bands, I kind of think the jury is still a bit out on them.
But per the people who love them, comparing them to Mew, I guess they are a band to not miss in this list. And perhaps with some time, I may feel more strongly about them and even the Mew comparisons, etc.
Astronoid - I'm including this band, even though when I was suggested/saw their name in 2016, Mew's name came up quite a bit. They were saying their music was like if Mew were doing Black Metal.
And, to be honest, that description or the Blackgaze/Metalgaze that is happy in a way, with that contrast, is not bad. But I just found the combination and maybe more so, just the songwriting and PRODUCTION from memory, not working too well for me.
But it did for others, so they are worth including as a suggestion I suppose. They're not the only Metal /Core band I recall within the last few years who Mew's name got mentioned with.
VOLA also is a band whose debut album Inmazes received many Mew name drops. But instead of Black Metal like Astronoid, they combined Djent and some other styles of rock and metal with the Mew-like Dream Prog/Pop.
And like Astronoid, the mix and songs just lost me. The mixing and production from memory, may also have. But like Astronoid, their was enough Mew name dropping from people who enjoy them, they probably deserve a recommendation to some Mew fans who also like Metal.

Mew @ The Turf Club 8/13/17
Okay, so Mew returned to Minnesota for the 2nd time in nearly 2 years (Here's my review from the October 5, 2015 show in Minneapolis at The Triple Rock Social Club).
And for the 2nd time, I can say they blew me away. I think part of it is hearing many of the songs, namely the Frengers/Kites/No More Stories tunes, live, has this amazing ability to bring me NOSTALGIA.
And like the show in 2015, I couldn't help but blubber a bit, succumbing to tears. The videos (*Visuals*) add a lot. So dreamy, dark, twisted, and surreal. They get to escape into the music actually.
And I'm just going to add right here in the review:
A Feature Entry(s) and Video is long overdue about Mew. And certainly I doubt I'll be able to avoid among the anecdotes, the memories/images of a couple tunes. "Zookeeper's Boy" and how I always think of the Michel Gondry/Gael Garcia-Bernal film The Science of Sleep, which oddly, when I started writing in this blog in December of 2006, I recall writing a review or referencing it. Granted, I saw that movie at Lagoon Theater in September or October of 2006, so it was a few months before then. But the Summer/Fall of 2006 also was my Mew discovery period.
Also "Louise Louisa" I think it is off Kites, in recent years has hit me like a ton of bricks for some reason associating it with the experience of 1st meeting my wife at KFAI.
But hopefully those long-winded tales will be found at a near-future form.
back to this review. The new songs so work pretty well live. "Twist Quest" and "Nothingness and No Regrets / Season" along with "Water Slides" from Plus Minus.
They just create such great atmosphere, I can't help but be swept up in what they present.
And for the 2nd time in 2 years, the band were gracious enough to hang around and chat with the fans here. Jonas, Johan Wohlert, Mads, Dr. (Nick) Watts, and Silas who I only got to speak to briefly as I was leaving. It was absolutely STORMING out though; per thankfully I didn't have a long trek to make from St.Paul. The band and some of the fans there, I feel for, like friends from Facebook Jared and his brother Matt (although Matt told me he now resides in Golden Valley, but Jared is from Austin, MN. Both of them I guess seeing their 1st Mew concert).
But the band were very down-to-earth, engaging like a couple of years ago. I spoke with Jonas about Prince even, and I just skimmed that review from 2 years ago, we chatted about Prince back then as well, lol. But also Kimbra. Per her guesting on Plus Minus, and Jonas guesting on The Golden Echo, I wonder if they could do a tour at some point together. If it happens, I would not be surprised. Kimbra I guess is in Japan right now, but she has a new album in the works, so who knows.
Anyway, I can't really say enough good things about last night, save for I am grateful they are still a band, making music and touring. I mentioned Oceansize, Pure Reason Revolution and Vennart to some of the fans and guys in Mew. I can't find it right now, but there was an article around 2006 (or maybe 2007 or 2005) that mentioned Mew, PRR and I want to say Klaxons. Oceansize may have also been mentioned, but they were buzzed about on the forums with those 2. Klaxons?..never got into them.
but when I met Mike Vennart last April with Biffy Clyro, I mention both PRR and Mew to him and I thought he said 'Size did a gig or even a tour with Mew at 1 point. But I look at the progressive band from Europe/UK from the last decade, and with PRR and Oceansize not around now, I am still grateful Mew is. I guess they ultimately had the most crossover appeal among those 3, for whatever reason.
More on this hopefully soon i.e. talking about my history and Mew's albums, etc. Since it is long overdue in a lot of ways.

Bullet Height - No Atonement (2016-2017)
https://bulletheight.tmstor.es/
Berlin-based electronic-rock duo Bullet Height, featuring Jon Courtney (Pure Reason Revolution) and Sammi Doll (IAMX touring member), release their much-anticipated debut album ‘No Atonement’ for 19th May 2017.
10 tracks of dark, primal conviction, pulped with the avant-garde, fusing industrialised electronica, heavy guitars and heartbreakingly sweet melodies.
Preorder links there for CD and what looks like a Turquise/Teal Vinyl from Superball Music.
May 19th release.
The 1st single/video below "Hold Together."
The similarities to especially the last Pure Reason Revolution album Hammer and Anvil are certainly there, but I still am curious to hear what they do on this album, beyond the 1st single and I recall the other stuff they put out previously.
Industrial/Synthy rock with a lot of vocals with distortion.
I would think certainly the PRR fans will want to check this out among others.

1. Fight Song
2. Bastion
3. Hold Together
4. Wild Words
5. Intravenous
6. Cadence
7. No Atonement
8. Break Our Hearts Down
9. Fever
10. Up To The Neck

REVERE - Rest in Peace
So British Band Revere have finally called it a day.
They sent me a package with some stuff from their last campaign which included a signed Setlist from a concert in 2015, and then a signed copy of their latest release, Man of Atom.
And for that I want to thank Revere for sure.
Stephen Ellis specifically as he included a nice note, thanking me in the package.
(I'll try and show it on YouTube hopefully soon)
This news of their ending while is sad, I guess I can't be highly surprised by save for the fact they've been a band for so many years (15) and yet have always been particular on how often and what they release. But many of their peers retired long before them (Pure Reason Revolution, Oceansize namely), so it was odd how they managed to stay afloat longer. I suppose a band like Archive or Biffy Clyro still are thankfully, although at least with Biffy, they did gain a large following in recent years, so that makes some sense.
I guess I've grown to see them as a live band who only recorded material when it was fully ready to record (and they had the funds of course). Why they have a limited body of work, even though they were a band for 15 years. 4 EP's, many singles and 2 full-lengths.
But their full-length albums, Hey! Selim and My Mirror / Your Target I enjoy both certainly. Their style of chamber/baroque pop/rock I always have liked and thought of with some of the other artists in the last 10-15 years using that kind of instrumentation and approach to creating music.
It is a little sad that I never got to see them live, but they are from across the pond, and while they seemed to gain a following over there, the US and North America, it was mostly blogs like my own here that found them on their radar.
So the story goes.
Hopefully the members will have future musical work to check out down the line, but until then, we do have a new video off Man of Atom, "Sonder" done by Ryan Pearce aka Man of Atom
to check out.
Revere's Homepage
It
is with a heavy heart that we announce our decision for REVERE to call
it a day. After more than 15 years together, and as many lineup changes,
we feel the time has come for us to focus on other musical projects.
We feel immensely proud of what we've achieved in more than 15 years together as a band, leaving behind two albums, a handful of EPs and a large collection of singles. This has also been done without any major support from a record label (although we must give shoutouts to Albino, Gift Of The Gab and V2). We were often asked why we were still together and the truth was that we just enjoyed writing and playing music together. We felt that what we were doing was a little bit different and exciting and enough of you agreed with us to keep us going. Thank you for that! Your support has meant everything to us!
Behind the scenes, we especially want to thank Dave JewerΓ©n Moore whose brilliant production skills and endless patience helped mould us into the band we eventually became. Also Ryan Pearce, whose visuals and music videos added further layers of meaning and excitement to our live shows. It is fitting that our last video, for Sonder, was also made by Ryan and is a video we are especially proud of.

Random Artist Feature: Pure Reason Revolution (16 mins)
Not exactly a perfect video, especially considering I chose them partially per the size of their discography.
And length-wise, 16 minutes was hardly ideal, but so be it.
I just thought, despite lower viewership, I still have been meaning to make a bunch more of these videos, even if people don't watch them initially.
And my Tuesday Half-days have gotten off to a bit of a slow start with these per last week I went to see The Lobster, and the week before I brought my car in to have the oil changed, etc. But if all goes well, I should have the chance to come home late in the morning and make more of these during that time, if not other times.
Lots of work and Wedding stuff has been taking up my time of late, but hopefully those 1/2-days especially will help.
As far as PRR, they're a favorite, and there's not much more to say. Ministry of Music recently mentioned he dropped some requests, including my request for a review of The Dark Third, so that kind of inspired me to go ahead and make a video about PRR.

Tiny Giant - Joely / How [1B] (2016)
The debut single from Tiny Giant (Chloe Alper, ex-Pure Reason Revolution) which is available on Spotify, deezer, Google Play and iTunes.
Also the 2nd track/b-side? "How" is there as well.
I actually may prefer "How" of these 2 new tracks. But good stuff, even if it's not exactly prog.

Bullet Height: Jon Courtney (ex-Pure Reason Revolution)
This sounds pretty good. Kind of PRR-like in some ways, with a bit of an electronic/industrial slant.
On Superball Music too.
While a PRR reunion may happen someday, the time table on that is unclear, but between this band from Jon Courtney and Chloe Alper's project Tiny Giant, the members are at least doing music again, and music I'm enjoying at initially.
Sammi Doll, the female singer I guess has played with the band IAMX.

Tiny Giant - Heavy Love [New song from Chloe Alper of PRR's new band]
This is pretty nice. Not exactly the crazy layering of PRR, but so be it. The 2nd half does have a nice climax.
Ever since Pure Reason Revolution split back in 2011, I've been rather curious to see what the members would do. Chloe Alper specifically, has been dabbling in some different things. A solo career under more than 1 name (her name, Chloe and Flood?), and then Tiny Giant was talked about maybe a year and a half ago, I forget. And I notice even in my tags, Mat Collis's name, whose the other half of Tiny Giant.
This song, may or may not be new, but newly recorded I imagine. I remember the mention of an EP last December, which never came.. But this new recorded single "Heavy Love" is quite good, so much, I really hope they have more coming soon. Maybe not this year, but hopefully in 2016 then.

Tiny Giant: New band feat. Chloe Alper (ex-Pure Reason Revolution)
Per altprogcore's post
http://tinygiantmusic.com/
https://www.facebook.com/TinyGiantmusic

This is a new project/band from Chloe Alper (ex-Pure Reason Revolution). You can stream their 1st song "Heavy Love" on their website linked above.
Not bad. Probably more *rock* like than the music I wondered if she was going toward with her solo music. Which with this new band with Mat Collis, I wonder how much this will impact said solo career. She has posted the last few years about a solo album coming under the name "Chloe." So, perhaps she will be doing both? or will that solo music not be coming so soon now?
Mat Collis, apparently is an engineer and perhaps a drummer among other things. It appears he's worked with Steven Wilson, Katatonia among his experience, as an engineer and drum, keyboard and guitar tech.
But Tiny Giant has an EP expected next winter per their website.

ChloΓ« (Chloe Alper ex-Pure Reason Revolution) video for "Leaf" (was new song "Oueda")
5/28/13 10:15PM
http://chloealper.com/
this is odd to say the least, and quite a departure from the PRR stuff. But then again, this may be some kind of art video and a segue/intro/outro kind of piece.
The name Peter Gabriel does come to mind, or even Kate Bush, Imogen Heap or Bjork in some ways.
also, I BELIEVE the demo below has been PULLED unfortunately. But hopefully she'll share that piece again, as it was pretty sweet sounding.
4/20/13 8:00AM
Chloe's new demo "One of Two"
Damn, verry very nice!
edit: she pulled the demo unfortunately. Hopefully it'll be back up soon.
1/30/13 4:45PM
12/19/12 12:04PM
I haven't heard it yet, but shall later today. She says she has music coming the end of the year here, and early in 2013.
Music by ChloΓ« Alper; a British singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. She launched her career as a solo musician in 2012, having previously been best known as a singer and bassist in the British New prog rock group Pure Reason Revolution.
Her new facebook page is here http://www.facebook.com/therealchloealper
And the Soundcloud page https://soundcloud.com/chloe-alper
What I'm unclear on a bit here is, the name Flood going to be dropped? This may get a bit like the Jimmy Gnecco/Ours thing if that kind of stuff isn't mentioned early on.

EDIT: The music she is making will be released under the name "ChloΓ«" and the "Flood" name is not going to happen. Honestly, that makes a lot of sense given there's like a dozen bands with that name
already. Although there's a few "Chloe's as well.

4/23/12 11:55AM
whole thing can be streamed here
4/19/12 4:26PM
another new song "Brevony" can be downloaded by going to this link on their homepage
the beginning almost sounds like DJ Shadow, and the fuzz guitar, beyond reminding me in many ways of Brent's Menomena fuzzy guitar parts, almost sounds like a Deadwing-era Porcupine Tree style.
This album keeps sounding even better, with each new track.
4/9/12 5:58PM
Just pre-ordered the CD. I want the Vinyl, but I am figuring it'll be worth purchasing at the show in June. But damn, that video of the artwork holds a lot of intrigue. It reminds me of Friend or Foe a bit, with its puzzle-like style. Or even like a Zeppelin Physical Graffiti or III style to it.
Very cool.
Also this 2nd shared/downloadable tune "Sqworm" is working well. I think it's clear Brent's straying from the Intuit and Menomena sound enough to not be accused of repeating himself. Some of it almost sounds industrial in a way, a little bit like the last Pure Reason Revolution album.
All the different options for Pre-ordering there sound neat, but a little too much $ for me. But if this record ends up being my record of the year, I might wonder why I didn't order one of the most extensive pre-order packages. Although the $5 shipping for a $12 compact disc still does make me scratch my head as to how shipping a cd from the US (presumably) would amount to almost half the cost of the item.
But so be it.

Flood (Chloe Alper of Pure Reason Revolution+ Tom Bellamy)
I'm not sure yet if this new project is/has become the name of Chloe Alper of PRR's new band, or if it is a completely separate thing from what I read as an upcoming solo album coming hopefully later this year. (I just sent her a message via twitter inquiring, she has changed her name to "Flood", but not the s/n/url as you can see here )
Tom Bellamy is from The Cooper Temple Clause, and more importantly, someone who co-wrote/produced some of Pure Reason Revolution's last record, Hammer & Anvil.
Whether this is that formerly announced solo album of hers, or something else, I and I'm sure other PRR fans especially will be interested to check it out.

The Felix Culpa RIP
thefelixculpa.com
THE END IS NIGH
August 10th, 2011
To whomever is reading this,
Eight years ago we decided to be a band. Tonight we decided to stop. Whether you have been with us since the Divine Cup days in Rockford, IL or you heard us for the first time tonight, thank you. With every ounce of our four hearts, thank you. You have been the reason we were The Felix Culpa and each one of you were with us all along. For those of us in this band, it has been a life changing experience that profoundly shaped who we are as people, but seasons change and songs end. Now, we humbly ask you to be with us one last time as we celebrate the music, friendship and memories that were made along the way in a final performance in Chicago. We'll let you know the details as soon as they are available. Until then, chin up. No tears. Only from endings can new beginnings be born.
Final show info & ticketing details will be available soon at TheFelixCulpa.com. Keep checking back.
-Culpa
God I feel terrible in some ways about reading this. Not only are they a band I have gotten into recently with their album from 2010 Sever Your Roots, and with Pure Reason Revolution's announcement just yesterday. But I owe them/others/myself a review of Sever Your Roots still. Plus I talked to 1 of the members whom I'm blanking on at this time, I talked to and told him about this blog. And he was genuinely interested. But I mentioned to him about As Tall As Lions and band breakups and things, and how I hope they don't.
WTF..that's almost like when I talked to 1 of the twins from School of Seven Bells about Warpaint and the industry last year; she then goes ahead and leaves the band in the middle of the tour.
Do I curse these bands/people? or is it pure coincidence? I would think I have NOTHING to do with it, but somehow, in the back of my mind, I can't help but wonder.
Fuck I'm sorry :(. But also at some point, I am going to expect band after band to breakup. It's going to happen every month probably. I really hope it's for the best.

Dear PRR peeps,

Looking forward to seeing you in November.

blech, these things always happen at non-opportune times. I have yet to write up a memorial about Oceansize, lol. But perhaps as sad as this now is (and that is/was), this will force me to do some kind of in-depth writing about the 'Size and of course these guys as well (and others who are not broken up).
But man, Battle Circus, Silverchair, Oceansize and many others. Tis the way of the industry. These bands and the people in them (and fans of course) deserve better.. But a silver lining could be the ole not ruining their legacy. And a reunion someday.
But for now, this afternoon, this is another bitter pill to swallow. Rest In Peace guys.

Pure Reason Revolution - Hammer & Anvil (2010) (2.0)
9/21/10 5:54AM

1. Fight Fire
2. Black Mourning
3. Patriarch
4. Last Man, Last Round
5. Valour
6. Over The Top
7. Never Divide
8. Blitzkrieg
9. Open Insurrection
10. Armistice
apparently that's the cover right there, although another white-bordered image has been posted around as well, but not necessarily implying it is the cover.
"Fight Fire"..uh, I dunno. I guess like some of the AVO songs, it may work better within-the-album.
"Black Mourning" sounds like a traditional PRR tune and I dig it naturally.
"Valour" this is more electronic than Black Mourning, but it has some nice ebbs and flows to it. If a lot of this record ends up being like this, I'll likely be happy enough (although I still would go for more of the riff-oriented stuff on TDT, but who knows if that'll ever happen again).
