The Vennart To Cure a Blizzard Boxed set opening. I for some reason forgot the big deal with this was not the Copeland CD, but the Copeland VINYL.
Also Porcupine Tree - Signify double vinyl.
Albums of the Year abridged. I didn't want to make a 30 or 40 minute video with a list of all of even half of the list per time and desire to just give an overview. I linked in the description the Entry in the blog from last month.
I do intend to make a preview video or podcast soon to go with the epic entry I put up last week. That one likely will be longer; per why a PODCAST might work best for it. I dunno, I guess I'll see. If not before, I'll try and do that during that week I have off in early January.
I decided to make a cliche Top 10 Bands/Artists of all-time. I went into some detail, but not execessive. I figure this is 1 of those type of lists people like to watch on YouTube.
Click-baity I suppose, guilty-as-charged.
I'll probably make an albums one. Songs?..as I've stated like a bazillion times, trying to rank SONGS, like all-time favorites is just almost pointless and impossible for me.
Maybe instead, just select 10 artists and choose 1 song from each, maybe in A SERIES of videos that could go 10 or 50 videos deep potentially, lol.
The media market is huge, thus the need for a media review market.
This is our little contribution to that field.

Vennart - Copeland [EP] (2017-2018)
So this is the Companion EP that I picked up as part of my Deluxe/Bundle preorder of To Cure A Blizzard Upon A Plastic Sea which both are being released 1-week from tomorrow on Friday September 14th.
I am happy that it is purely digital, making the physical version more rare at this point.
The 2nd track "Castlefordian Girls" is streaming. Haven't heard it yet of course, but will later.

1. Terrors
2. Castlefordian Girls 04:26
3. Mines
4. Ambi
5. I'm Janick Gers

VENNART - Donkey Kong [1B] (2018)
http://www.vennart.com/
Vennart (aka Mike Vennart's band) has an upcoming record, his/their 2nd album, the follow-up to The Demon Joke from 2015, an album I love a ton.
So if you go to Vennart's site and sign/re-sign up to the email list, you get a free download of "Donkey Kong" the 1st single.
Just listening now, uh, I really like a lot of this, but good lord this song is ALL OVER THE PLACE, schizophrenic, but not contrived really.
I suppose it's not all that unusual for Mike, but I at the same time I'm not sure he's written a song that with as many changes?
At any case, I certainly will post a brand new entry about the album, details, etc. But for now, I can certainly endorse this to anyone who enjoys The Demon Joke or Oceansize of course.
oh and it may take a little while to get an email (someone mentioned a couple of hours), but it's well worth the wait.

British Theatre - Mastery (2015-2016)
5/6/16 7:17AM
On bandcamp now.
Early impression: I naturally like a lot of this album. It kind of reminds me of the early OSI at points, with Vennart and Gambler's stamp on it. And it also not surprisingly sounds like some of the electronic side of Oceansize. Everyone Into Position and Home and Minor.

1. Blue Horror 05:01
2. The Cull 04:22
3. Dinosaur 03:39
4. The Coldest Of Shoulders 02:37
5. Capra 05:30
6. Newman 05:21
7. Cross The Swords 03:34
8. Gold Bruise 04:33
9. Thunderlips 02:20
10. Favour The Brave 04:28
11. Mastery 06:39
4/29/16 6:34AM
ALBUM STREAM
Of course I received an email with a download link per my Preorder (so if you did, you also can just do that).
Hopefully later today at work I'll be able to check this out. Big hopes!
1/27/16 6:17AM

"Mastery" drops on April 29th
Article which includes stream of "Newman"
(and also comes with the preorder).
This sounds darker and almost industrial. From that article and Mike Vennart's blog (linked/copied and pasted below), it sounds like the stuff on this album may differ in some ways from the 2 EPs from a few years ago, which very well could be all for the better.

Hello and happy new year
I’m proud to announce the imminent arrival of the British Theatre record.
Gambler and myself started this band (i don’t like to use the word ‘project’) in the immediate aftermath of the breakup of the old band. We didn’t really know what we wanted to do, we were just happy that we were free to do it.
We released a couple of EPs in 2012, which, in hindsight, are clear exercises in self-discovery. You can kind of hear the conflict. In ‘Defeat Skeletons’ and ‘As The Leaves Are To The Limbs’ you can hear i’m longing to be in a band again. In the rest of the repertoire, you can hear that Gambler has other ideas. Consequently, it didn’t really work. But it was necessary.
The same happy obstacles that prevented any work on the ‘The Demon Joke’ were also in effect here, but tenfold. This was an album that i didn’t know what to do with.
After the two-year Biffy Clyro ‘Opposites’ tour, we reconvened, and looked at the material we wrote prior to the tour. Most of it didn’t measure up. We pretty much started all over again. We booked the Arctangent Festival to give us an enforced deadline.
This was a record that made me scared. I found it intimidating, out of my comfort zone and uneasy.
….all of which is why I love this record so much.
It’ll be available to pre-order on Pledge Music this week.
MV x
1/26/16 2:15PM
Stoked. More later probably, and I have to wait to put my order in at a non-public location (I'm at lunch right now).
But this record I could certainly foresee being awesome. Maybe as good if not better than The Demon Joke.
Download comes with a preorder.

Subbing for Modern Kicks on KFAI Radio 10/14/15
So I was given the chance to sub again for the Modern Kicks show on KFAI radio last night/early this morning and here's my and Joyce's playlist
The show itself, went overall pretty well, although I'll admit the transitions could have been better and my issue with the "uh's" and "um's" but I'm not sure I'll ever be able to avoid those, but perhaps at least reduce them
Also the station/studio has a brand new setup for the Promo Carts being automated, except I'm not clear on how to stop and play a different one later, that was previously lined up and skipped. I didn't realize by doing this, it skips further down in the schedule, thus the 1st 2 or 3 carts I didn't quite get in. But I'll know for next time.
And the fact they have new cd players, which the cds just go directly into without a TRAY.
I.e. it was equipment I had to learn to use on the fly.
But my playlist is more or less a best-of 2015 and some 2014 stuff, which sort of spoils my Countdown slightly, but so be it.

British Theatre - Cross the Swords [Single] (2014-2015)
Another of Mike Vennart's projects with Gambler, that is more electronic and post-rock of a kind.
New song is okay. Has that British Theatre element, that is distinguishable from Oceansize and VENNART in a lot of ways.
A new album is in the works per a lot of Mike Vennart's twitter posts and in a couple of interviews. Whether it is released in 2015 tho, I guess we'll see. I wouldn't assume anything, but it seems like a longer release of some kind isn't that far away.
