Gojira: Hipster Metal?

Well it was only about 6 months ago this was posted

And for all I know, they've posted reviews of some others since, but now Gojira.

Gojira - L'Enfant Sauvage review on Pitchfork Media

Okay, whose next? The Faceless? Behemoth? Orphaned Land?

Hipsters + Metal =/= a good thing for Metal or an influence on Metal.

I DON'T NEED HORDES OF URBAN OUTFITTER, FLANNEL WEARING BEARDED FLEET KITTENS FANS SHOWING UP when I go see Spawn of Possession or Ne Obliviscaris in Concert.

With these naive buffoons over at Pitchfork acting like they know Metal, they've been reviewing and even just listening to the extensive amounts of Metal for the past X number of years, is just plain false.

When I went to see In Flames and Trivium at 1st Ave a few months ago, they're flashing photos of your token Hipster bands like The National, Yo La Tengo and the like. That's not music most people who would attend an In Flames Concert LIKE. But because these naive promoters think 1st Ave should book Metal shows (because Pitchfork has the 10 or so reviews of Metal albums on their site), they end up trying to cross-promote, where no cross-promotion is really desired.

Ugh, Shitfork, like I said. back in January. Someone they respect, needs to call them out on this shit, but until that happens, they're gonna continue to shove certain bands down their readers throats.
