This is a super crazy funny, mindfuck of a cover.
My wife is going to be like "Hell No!" LOL
It even has like a Yacht-Rock 80's look to the film, setting, wardrobe and what the band are wearing.
Maybe the cover of the year.
Kind of makes up for missing their show with Bent Knee last night in Minneapolis, although I guess TYS played this during the encore.
It makes me wonder if Eddie Murphy has seen this and what he'd think, lol.
Is Rick James rolling over in his grave? my wife probably thinks so, lol.
The media market is huge, thus the need for a media review market.
This is our little contribution to that field.

Vonavi - Regrow [SHORT FILM]
So I LOVE the debut album from Vonavi Reflection now, and had heard this song a bunch of times over the last few weeks, but had not watched this Short Film that was made for it.
I finally did today, and oh my gawd, I BURST INTO TEARS after seeing the ending.
Although I watched it a 2nd time and noticed the central character, the young man who it seems was abandoned by his parents as a boy and was either an Orphan or a Foster kid perhaps.
he sees the station wagon they had when he was a kid, and goes up to the door, hesitates, but does not decide to knock and reach out to them.
But shortly after, you see him running after the vehicle I think, and he has a SMILE ON HIS FACE.
But initially, when seeing the boy being dropped off by his parents and left there, in the dark and cold weather, and he runs towards their car driving away...it was FUCKING HEART WRENCHING.
THAT POOR LITTLE BOY!!!!!! 💔💔💔💔💔💔😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
It reminds me of Cloud Cult's "You Never Were Alone"..where it just hit me so hard, how sad and unfair it looked.
This Short Film should get some Independent Spirit Award recognition if not Academy and Golden Globe Awards attention.
Will It?..I think I have a better chance getting nominated for a film I have not made, lol. But the whole adage, of Epic Failure on the part of the masses or even the Independent Film and music communities.
But that is par for Society's failure-course, so I just shrug and give it a Facepalm.

Dylan Cheek, I wonder what he's done along with the kid, Matthew Nilsen?
And of course the director Andrew Litten. I may have to look some of them up on imdb.

Happy Veterans Day - "War" (Kevin Gilbert + Jonatha Brooke)
Great tune.
I'm not a veteran and am anti-war, but this song has a great message.
And Jonatha Brooke actually lives in the Twin Cities now (a show coming up at the Bryant Lake Bowl this week if I recall).

Daniel Victor interview (Neverending White Lights) on the Audio Judo Podcast
This is a new interview that Daniel Victor did with the Audio Judo podcast.
It's a little over an hour.
Very good interview and good to hear Daniel talk about things with Neverending White Lights, the current status, some of the history, etc.
I really love a lot of NWL music, and totally support Daniel with whatever he does musically.
He's a very talented songwriter who is very ambitious and unique.
The stuff to take from this interview being that he's written and demo-ed music for a large sum of songs. He said Act IV for the 3rd incarnation, is all written, and he's written enough other songs for half of Act V.
He of course is staying with the NWL approach to having different singers for different songs. Although if I recall correctly, at one point for Act III or it may have been just after, he said he may not always do that. I wonder if a lot of that was due to time, or he found he wrote many songs that the other singers were not required, aka he would sing on them only, or maybe they would be instrumental tunes? i forget, that was many years ago of course.
I feel his frustration and experience about the Music Industry, label, and success being found and then not found with a follow-up.
And the gap in years since Act III being 8 years, as a fan, I both feel the frustration with him, but also only want what is best. The music to be released in the best way possible.
Because he says if things with the Music industry and label didn't go the way they did, he likely would have released 3 or 4 more albums this decade. He had like 100 songs written.
he also repeated what I remembered with the 1st incarnation of Act IV being lost due his place being flooded and the hard drive with it being lost. I suppose his feeling of that it wasn't meant to be makes sense, but the NWL fan in me likely will always wonder about that music.
But Act IV will come at some point hopefully. It does remind me a bit of what happened with Close to Edge from Yes.
But he does say towards the end of the interview, how Acts I and II will be added to Spotify soon and his website and albums will be revamped, maybe also on bandcamp? they are there anyway.
And likely in 2020, he'll at least be releasing a new song. As far as Act IV? maybe it's worth not assuming any time frame. I wonder if part of it is having the singers come on board. He mentioned Matthew Good whose a fellow Canadian musician whose friends with Daniel. I know him, liked some of his music from memory.
I can't help but wonder if some of the others could include Jeff Martin from The Tea Party and Dan Moxon of Bend Sinister. He mentioned knowing The Tea Party and they being from his hometown of Windsor, Ontatrio.

Vonavi - Reflection (2019-2020)
11/8/19
Sucker is released today.
YOUTUBE PLAYLIST
SPOTIFY
ME? gonna have to wait until I get home. Very thankful it's on YouTube as well. Will likely listen tomorrow at work as I have almost 4 hours to extra time to complete.
It likely will be getting and probably sustaining for a few months, the EARLY LEADER IN THE CLUBHOUSE for 2019-2020 Albums of the Year race.
As screwy as this sounds, this album I am making eligible for my Decade and Century list which I hope to publish no later than X-Mas, but it could be Thanksgiving-ish or even next week when I'm off Mon-Wed.
Kinda doubtful though given how new it is to find 4.5-5 star territory, But I have may to include some extra anticipated Century and 2010-2019 albums in there.
11/3/19 11:00PM
Per their label's site: The Artwork and Track List below
1 Sunburst feat. Run Rivers 4:01
2 Her 3:52
3 Fear for You feat. Lorna Rose 3:56
4 Calling 4:18
5 Full of Lies 4:02
6 Moan 3:46
7 All in Your Eyes feat. Run Rivers 4:52
8 Everyday 4:31
9 Feel the Embrace feat. Lorna Rose and Run Rivers 3:48
10 Hearts on Fire 5:08
11 Regrow feat. Run Rivers 4:00
Article and Song Premiere of "Regrow"
I'm not seeing tons of details about Reflection , Vonavi's upcoming DEBUT ALBUM, other than from that article, some of the song titles:

But the release date is here:
Ukranian songwriter and producer Vonavi will be releasing his debut album Reflection on November 8, 2019 via 61 Seconds Records.
So it's not all that far away. "Sunburst" is the track I heard earlier this year that won me over. Run Rivers is the singer from Stateless and he appears on Reflection along with Lorna Rose.
I am rather intrigued about this album and hearing more of the stuff from Run Rivers as he seems to appear on a lot of tracks from other artists "featuring" such as this artist Baran.
But with Vonavi and the stuff about in that article, I am anticipating a really atmospheric, mesmerizing at times record with a lot of layers.
I guess some describe Vonavi's music as "Down Tempo" and mostly electronic, like James Blake, but either I don't recognize it so much, or maybe I've found a taste for some of the slower down-tempo electronic music that many are into.
I mean it's a cult genre or genres I suppose as I have not heard of many if any of the artists on the 61 Seconds Records label/website , but maybe I'm missing out on some of it.
when the full details come about this album in the coming days/weeks, I'll have to try and bump/edit this.
Sadly, November is past the 2018-2019 deadline, but it will just add to great list of records coming in 2019-2020.

1.2 Million Hits
Yep.
FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH.
I can't explain it.
I hit 1 million last March. 200,000 hits in 7 months?
funny how things happen when you don't care all that much?

George Michael - This is How (We Want You to Get High) [1B]
This is on the Last Christmas Soundtrack, coming out on Friday November 8th.
New song or DEMO?
it's good, although I question whether this actually was ever finished to George's satisfaction.
The fact is Nile Rodgers was over in England, signed a contract to record George's new album with him.
It never happened because the plans were to happen after Christmas in 2016.
Some of the comments on YouTube say there's a whole album or at least 4 unreleased songs to release?
like 4 or an album of Demos?
The REAL album is the album the label owns that if I recall what my wife told me, was to come out after Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1 in the 90's.
THAT ALBUM I believe is finished, and could come out some day. The Record Label (Sony Music?) owns it, and would have to decide to allow George's estate to release it. Or the Estate BUY it from the label.
edit
here's an article, and the title Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 2.,
THAT IS THE REAL HOLY GRAIL for George Michael fans
or Trojan Souls
Another album called Trojan Souls was recorded in 1994 and allegedly features vocals by Elton John, Sade, Anita Baker, Bryan Ferry and Stevie Wonder

NewVillager SUITE? ( "Fall 2019" )
11/5/19
"Time the Light" new single.
As mellow as it sounds, it does still sound like NewVillager.
I'm hoping this is just a taste of what may come, but there's not much detail beyond the artwork and this is a new song.
And on YouTube

Licensed to YouTube by
but that doesn't suggest that's a label or anything. Perhaps they will just be taking their time, releasing tracks here and there like some (Fjokra, Capital Cities, Revere, etc).
But we'll see if this is not the only thing up their sleeves. It's a good track regardless and great to hear any new music from NewVillager after 8+ years

could the new album be titled "Suite," coming Fall 2019?

RANTS + Albums of the Year, Decade and Century lists
I am on PTO next Monday-Wednesday. If I have the time and energy (which is no guarantee), the 2018-2019 AOTY will be published.
2010-2019 probably as well
2000-2019 perhaps too.
But I never have the discipline or time to go off and write a lot of the shit in my head about YouTube, music taste, BILLS when buying a house and others of late.
I may actually try and go to the library and do it, given I will be isolated and not nearly as likely to be distracted. Unsure
I know this, I was thinking about my savings account being drained gradually since buying this townhouse, and I either need to see borrowing from my 401K as like a Credit Card, or ultimately find myself trapped living in some kind of personal misery.
I don't take trips
I'm not seeing movies in the theater
I rarely eat out..and even feel guilty of buying anything remotely Fast Food
I am going to have to see very few concerts..much less than I used to, but even less than I have over the last year....like maybe 1-2 a year..and not even many LOCAL shows..the upcoming PG13 show?..doubtful
MISERY I guess..or maybe something will change like maybe I'll actually get a nice sum of money back from the govt for having a house now?..Trump?..yeah in a parallel dimension.
also I would like to personally apologize to Casey for posting something on reddit yesterday even if it wasn't exactly going against his wishes, I still shouldn't have posted anything to be honest. I'm trying to come to learn to BITE MY TONGUE when dealing with anything celebrity related. I guess in here is the only place I feel somewhat safe to say things, as tactfully as I can.

GOSPEL: 2019 REUNION + NEW MUSIC/ALBUM?????
This Article is a pretty good history + update on the band Gospel.
Okay, so if you search this blog, you'll find more than reference and/or feature writings talking about this band.
But to summarize: they released a really cool progressive post-hardcore album in 2005 The Moon is a Dead World.
And I forget how long after, maybe 2 or 3 years later
edit: in reading what I wrote last year here, their break up, or at least 1 of them happened in 2010.
But "Tango" is amazing.
That article and their Facebook Page under "onetruegospel" they did a reunion show on September 20th at "St.Vitus" which I am presuming is in New York City. The band originates from Brooklyn anyway, but some members had moved away and are moving back.
Anyway, I'll just quote a couple key parts of that article:
I ask if that mean we’re finally getting the completed “Magic Volume of Dark Matter,” a never-recorded album-sized song that looms enormous in Gospel’s lore.
“Hopefully! We have other new songs we’ve been working on that we need to record,” says Miller. “Songs we wrote a few years ago when we were playing. ‘The Magic Volume’ is a huge undertaking, but we are hoping to get everything recorded.”
But the band did mention several times that they’re preparing to enter the studio again, most likely this Winter⎯
“It’s probably going to be called Absurd Challenge,” quips Dooling about the next album. “Because it is.” But Gospel seem more than up to the meeting the task, on their own terms. Praise be.
So naturally I am verrry curious and optimistic to see what they do, when, however soon. I wonder if doing the reunion might escalate the process somewhat. 2020 or maybe 2021? I guess I am not going to assume anything, other than there is good reason to start following them and paying attention to their Social Media in the coming months/year(s).
The way that article reads, the stuff they may be doing could be amazing, but there also is the concern of the time gap. Cautiously optimistic I suppose, but I'm happy that anything new could be coming our way from Gospel.
Absurd Challenge sounds like a great title for an album from these guys.
It does sound like they will be taking their time to get the writing and recordings as best as they can, which may bode well.
