What the hell KScope? yet ANOTHER band, like iamthemorning, that appear to be right up my alley on their label.

Holy shit this is some atmospheric, incredibly dreamy stuff! And this (British but at also East Indian-based?) band, it appears are taking the Pure Reason Revolution/Revere approach of releasing a bunch of singles and EP's before their 1st full-length, which it sounds like they are working on? or maybe close to finished and I imagine may get released this Season.

Some stuff here about it on their website

Some of this stuff reminds me of maybe 2 bands, 1 being the late/great Post/Dreamy Rock band from Portland, Oregon Forest Park, but maybe even more, Canadian chillwave/dream/post rock band who I last heard about in 2012, Memoryhouse.

edit: They also remind me a fair amount of the band *Shels, mainly the percussion, vocals, and use of grand sounding trumpet almost as a texture. And when they use electronics, they can sound a bit like God is an Astronaut (or Toria).

That seems vague. I suppose I hear elements of many other "post" bands (Sigur Ros?, *Shels? God is an Astronaut), including KScope band Nosound I suppose. But regardless, I am rather intrigued by this group in just hearing some of their music on the latest KScope Podcast and now online.

Love the samples (although the ones that include yelling are hit and miss sometimes).

Damn this stuff is dynamic and also very sublime.

Pretty excited to finally hear this debut record of theirs. My only small issue might be in 1 of the sample clips, I hear some djent, which previously, I don't recall on any of their music. But if it's not extensive, it likely won't matter to me. I do hope they continue using samples, but remember what OSI did after their debut album?

anyway, this debut LP should be coming in 2014, my guess would be in the Spring sometime.

Toria

I discovered this Latvian group a few years ago. They're 1 of the more interesting heavy Post Rock groups I ever came across. Maybe what stood most from memory, from that 3-song demo was how they used SAMPLES. Only a few other "Post" bands have used them well, or even used them at all in fact.

But I also recall just the MOOD and dynamics, which is common in "post" bands, but they seemed to do it better than most of the other groups, especially recently.

But like many bands as obscure as they are, I wondered what they were up to like a year later, and came to understand they had ended/broken up.

But I got a message on facebook the other day from them linking to their Bandcamp with these 2 new tunes that came out earlier this year. The 1st one, "Snow Crystals" is more textured, "Re:Toria" is more riffy.

Good to see they are still making music and they posted most recently on FB:

August 26th is a fixed date for us to get back in studio and to finish our debut album. Can't wait! What about You, pals?

Toria - Toria (Demo/EP, 2009)

Just a short piece about this new band I stumbled upon over the weekend. They are from Latvia, their music could be described as post-rock and progressive-rock and instrumental-rock and rock-music-that-uses-samples.

They use subtle textures, dynamics (slow and soft, to loud and heavy) and audio samples rather well.

The band they reminded me of the most? 2009 favorite note. from Germany.

This ep/demo is only 3 tracks, but it's got a lot of what I enjoy in "post" or just instrumental rock music, even with somewhat low-fi production (which isn't necessarily a bad thing).

I hope they can continue on and gain a wider audience, as I'm not sure how difficult it may be in their circumstances. But I probably will try and keep tabs on them as best I can given how impressed I was by their music today.
