Another vinyl update and the 1 CD from The Woods Brothers to show. Unfortunately, there are at least a couple of other cds to show that I misplaced, but they'll have to be shown in a future video.
The Local Natives Vinyl is a bit much given the package it came with plus the extra 10" 45.

Rush - Presto (1st Pressing)
XTC - White Music
Local Natives - Sunlit Youth + Past Lives /Villainy/Fountain of Youth/Lyndon

The Woods Brothers - The Woods Brothers (2015-2016)
So this somewhat long awaited debut album from Southern California-based musicians Chris and Nick Woods finally was released last week. And I ordered my copy from CDBaby linked below and finally got it in the mail yesterday.
Of course Casey Crescenzo was pretty extensively involved with this along with a number of other musicians. The song "Terra Firma" came out last year and Casey does sing vocals on it along with some other things. And I won't lie, that track is very strong and still remains right now my favorite.
But I can say there is a lot of great stuff on here beyond it. With the extensive amounts of guest vocalists, it does remind me of a Neverending White Lights album (or the last couple of Battles albums? Ayreon? among some others). And the songs do vary, yet Casey and The Dear Hunter's influence/presence seems pretty apparent at points.
I guess musically, beyond TDH, I hear bands like Bend Sinister or The Reign of Kindo or even Timmy Sean, namely with the piano and synth-driven sections and drum work.
I do anticipate giving this album a good amount of time in the coming days/weeks, but at least I can say I'm already enjoying it and impressed with its flow, production (Casey has a knack for this), and consistency. And because of that it does add some intrigue for what they may do in the future.

The Woods Brothers - The Woods Brothers (2015-2016) ft. Casey Crescenzo
1/2/16 12:06PM
New track "The Beginning"..sounds darker and more piano driven, although I like the guitar solo towards the end. I do feel still, given the variety of vocalists and I imagine style of songs to a point, this could come out a bit like Neverending White Lights, which certainly could be a good thing. I say that, just per the different singers especially. I mean the style of music may not end up sounding like NWL, but just the approach to the whole album with contrasting styles of voices. A little like Nordic Giants too I suppose.

Happy New Year from The Woods Brothers! Enjoy our new and final single before our full release! "Terra Firma" was the end of the story, and now we present "The Beginning" with vocals written and performed by our former Brother in Arms Toby Forrest from Cityzen, our first band we played in together back in the day. Complete with Lead Guitar by the uber talented Alex Potts who rocked with Chris in The Memorials for a couple years, and backing vox by Morgan Jones and Ciara Budds. You will also hear some nice acoustic guitar and rhythm guitar by our Producer Casey Crescenzo from The Dear Hunter. We hope you like it, and once again, Happy New Year!!!

I somehow forgot I posted about The Woods Brothers back in July when they released their debut single "Terra Firma" (see below), but now I am reminded of that.
But the short little documentary tells a bit more of their story and their working with Casey Crescenzo of The Dear Hunter and the frontman from The Fall of Troy on this debut album of theirs.
And they announced a couple of months ago how it will be Self-Titled and coming out in 2016.
Anyway, I'll of course add more details when they are available, but for now I still really love "Terra Firma" and have great hopes for this record that Casey also produced I guess.

The Woods Brothers - Terra Firma [Single] (2014-2015) (ft. Casey Crescenzo of The Dear Hunter)
This is the debut single from The Woods Brothers, and they were fortunate enough to have the services of Casey Crescenzo sing on this song.
I was introduced to them and the fact Casey was guesting on this song a few months ago per The Dear Hunter's fans forum.
Honestly, even without Casey, this is would be a pretty tasty track, but it sounds awesome with him.
What I'm not clear about is, is this the only track.
edit: okay in re-reading the topic here Casey is quite involved in this upcoming record, but he may not be singing on any other tracks, But there are other guest singers, including Thomas Erak from The Fall of Troy and some others, 1 may be Cedric from The Mars Volta even.
Also the Facebook page below has some nice footage in the studio with Casey.
I made a comment a few months ago about this being a little like Neverending White Lights with many different singers, etc. I'm curious how cohesive and even conceptual The Woods Brothers debut album may be.
Regardless, this 1st single is excellent, (even with Casey's vocals I suppose being a big part), and it adds intrigue to the full-length which from that topic, could be coming this Fall sometime.
Now I kind of wish I had contributed to the Indiegogo, but I'll likely pick it up regardless.
