Pain of Salvation - In the Passing Light of Day (2016-2017)

1/4/17 9:50AM

The video for Reasons is finally not country-restricted.

I can say I've heard a version of the new album and am liking this, but not probably as much as many reviews have suggested.

But as I just posted on Social Media, I finally noted which Cloud Cult "Sleepwalker"  has some eerie similarities to 1 of the tracks on this album. Almost now to the point, I hear the Gang-vocal chorus in it every time I play that track from this new Pain of Salvation album.

Also another track mentions "cutting to the bone" which reminds me of the Oceansize track "Meredith" and that lyric "cut you to the bone"

New song "Reasons," which I enjoy the vocals. The guitars seem doomy/dissonant, but I guess work with the song and may grow on me. Pretty lame that the YouTube video is restricted right now, but there are ways around that of course.

No Minnesota of course, but I'm happy to see other fans get to see them (at and BEYOND the Cruise)

Apparently, VEVO.com doesn't allow embedding at this time which is lame.

Regardless, new track and video from the album. I'm luke warm about it. It's kind of slow/slow-tempo. But I do like the last couple of minutes.

edit: it got put back up on YouTube, and also it seems it's a remake of 1 of Ragnar's band old song.

Meaningless - Pain Of Salvation

11/10/16 9:55AM
Track list, and cover art? The post doesn't confirm the cover art, but it may be.

I react to the epics especially "On a Tuesday" being 10+ mins and the 15+ title track. It looks a bit like both classics, TPE and Remedy Lane in that sense.

Inspiration from Daniel's experience with flesh eating bacteria (per the link/text below from I/O music)

We'll see/hear soon enough.

Inside Out Music's Facebook

Swedish progressive rock/metal innovators Pain of Salvation have announced the worldwide release of their long-awaited new studio album ‘In the Passing Light of Day’ for Friday the 13th of January, 2017 via their longtime label partners InsideOutMusic.
Working together with acclaimed producer Daniel Bergstrand (In Flames, Meshuggah, Strapping Young Lad, etc.) at Dugout Studio in Sweden, the band have crafted an album that sees them returning to their much praised heavier sound, featuring the syncopated rhythms, glorious melodies, and intensely personal themes that Pain of Salvation fans have long loved about the band.
Inextricably linked to the near fatal illness that band-leader Daniel Gildenlöw spent much of the first half of 2014 recovering from, the album is an altogether darker and more impassioned journey. Taking the hospital bed as a narrative hub, the lyrical and musical themes touch on all the conflicting feelings that run through a person’s mind when presented with the prospect of death and the passing of life.
The album will be available as a special edition 2CD Mediabook (including expanded 48-pages booklet, several in-depth texts by conceptual author Daniel Gildenlöw, demo material & band commentary tracks), standard jewelcase CD, gatefold 180g 2LP vinyl plus album on CD as bonus & digital download.

Not a ton of details save for the cover and whatever Daniel is referring to in June. But per a lot of updates and that short window of time, the details should come soon. What is Daniel talking about? the obvious guess is a new video or maybe new website. Perhaps interactive, or something. Maybe some novelty item associated with this new album of theirs?

a tour? I guess we'll learn soon enough.

Good to get some good news amongst all the Prince stuff the past 24 hours. I certainly am interested in this new album, even if my passion for PoS hasn't been really high for almost 10 years.

I probably should/and will make a Random Artist Feature about them soon, perhaps sooner per this news.

There is some interesting news coming up in the next few days. I'm not the one to shower our fans with news about every little thing we do, since I don't... well, since I simply don't enjoy that social direction. So, in the last months we have simply worked on the new album, which is turning out absolutely awesome! The album title (which I know you have been waiting for and speculated about) is:
In the Passing Light of Day
However, we have also prepared another little surprise release for you all, scheduled for June. I can't wait to see how this will be received, but I have a feeling it will be very appreciated. 😀
Anyway, that about that for now, keep your eyes and ears open and you'll get more intel on the surprise release and the new album in the next coming days.
Wet kisses!
/Daniel
