Good lord, this is dreeeeeeeammeee as all hell! Shit, this is the Jimmy Gnecco I know and love. It almost reminds me of Mew.

Jimmy Gnecco seems to guest appear on a bunch of artists records every year or 2, and almost always has excellent tracks. From Neverending White Lights, to the Spiderman 2 Soundtrack (with Brian May), to Weathervane, to the Transformers Rollout Video Game soundtrack last year.

This is another example of the brilliance of Jimmy and I suppose credit this band of1000faces who I've never heard, but now mean to. Whose Bandcamp Page has a couple other things, but seems like they are just getting going in a lot of ways.



I'll have to check them out on the Social Medias and see if this is just 1 part of something else coming soon.

I feel a little bad/guilty to have not shared this many weeks or even months ago, as I recall 1st learning about it back in late December. My initial reaction was $100? why that much? and in comparing it to The Dear Hunter's Lifetime Membership, which was only $25, but FOR LIFE, it didn't seem like quite as good a deal. 5 Years is awhile, but it also has to be asked, to get USE out of it, Ours or Jimmy Gnecco HAVE TO ACTUALLY COME TO MINNESOTA. Which for the 1st 2 or more years I recall, when I was a fan (2005-2007) they/he did not. But then within a 2-year period, they came 4 times, only once not headlining. And then Jimmy was last in Minnesota in 2010 opening for Greg Laswell.

So, I suppose odds are they'll/Jimmy will end up back in town at least a few times in the next 5 years.

Plus, maybe using it in other towns isn't as far fetched as it may sound for me. Even just Chicago.

And the fact they haven't even determined everything it'll give access to, besides the perks listed there. Especially if anything ever comes about with Jimmy and Velvet Revolver/Slash. Namely, if some kind of collaboration happens, and suddenly a large demographic of people start to check out Ours/Jimmy's music as a result, having this CARD will allow me to still get to chat with Jimmy and the band, before or after shows without considering the venue or crowd.

Although like The Dear Hunter's Lifetime Membership I suspect, it will only happen at HEADLINE gigs at this point.

I would say for even the casual Ours or Jimmy fan at this point, it's a bit to spend, but anyone whose pretty into them, it very well may be more than worth getting.

Unfortunately, the deadline to purchase one ends on Saturday March 31st according to that link above. And as it says, this very likely will be a 1-time only offer. Now in 5 years, renewing it might be a possibility, but no guarantee about that. I suppose it depends on how successful this project is.

As far as Ours/Jimmy they are supposedly working on a new record right now, and Jimmy also has plans for Weathervane. But both of those camps have been relatively quiet from the stuff I've seen. I'm hoping some news will come in the next few months. I know there's a show coming up in April I think, so they are still playing live. But I recall not that long ago (within the last 2 months), Static posted on twitter, writing music for the next Ours record.

Jimmy Gnecco with Velvet Revolver?

A big What-The-Fuck to this. Although there's a lot more to this.

First off, this is sadly, OLD news as it was posted on b-mouth like 3 weeks ago.

Personally, I don't read kill the band as regularly as I wish/should mainly due to how slow it's been. But beside the fact I didn't see this news item a few weeks ago, I have heard/read about Jimmy's relationship with Slash, and some talk about this, even a few years ago. And I do recall sometime either this Summer or Spring about some quotes from Jimmy about Slash and the Road Recovery benefit.

So, this doesn't come as big of a shock as I might expect.

edit: this link on his site is probably one recent thing I remember seeing via facebook or twitter at least.

That all being said, there's nothing that I can find that says he is with Velvet Revolver, or even officially going to work with them. But the B-mouth article quotes Slash saying they may write some music together.

My take is with VR, they're really nothing amazing, and I wonder artistically what it would do for Jimmy. They sound almost like a Bar band in those videos, to me.

But perhaps with Jimmy's input and the exposure he would receive singing for them could help him and Ours music in the long run.

But all of that remains to be seen. For now, I am enjoying the re-release of The Heart and looking forward to his new project Weathervane and other work including or not-including with Velvet Revolver.

Jimmy Gnecco News: (The Heart re-release/Weathervane)

Interesting interview, 1st off the frequent praise of Mercy and stressing how still not enough people even heard it, which I would totally echo, in fact I probably haven't echoed enough even on this blog. Mercy is a 5-star record that Rick Rubin's name is on as the producer (for what that actually means), yet even with Rubin getting a Grammy Nomination for its mix I recall, it really never got talked about like it should have. Hip4k I don't think even reviewed it, nor did 89.3 or Radio K ever play anything off of it. But they still could of course. Will they? I probably have a better chance getting my own Technical Death Metal show on 89.3, than that happening.

But also in that interview, it's good to hear info about his current work. The Heart is being re-released and re-arranged, and initially coming out in Europe. The way he describes the difference in the songs, and adding strings, layers, electric guitar, has me pretty curious (even tho I'm a huge fanboy anyway, The Heart didn't end up as great as I hoped last year. Maybe revisiting it would help).

And then the info that I was just reading about this project Weathervane here on the Ours forum, and Weathervane made music for the soundtrack for the film Head Hunters. If I'm getting this all correctly.

This musician Paul Waaktaar-Savoy I guess is one of if not the main creative force behind a-ha.

I'm curious what this may lead to as that song is pretty good, albeit a little different than Ours and Jimmy's solo music.
