The song/stream "finally."
Sounds like some from The Fool, slow, methodical, meditative, and the Warpaint-dreaminess...but that record varied enough, and some of the live tracks, I suspect their upcoming record won't sound only like this.

This apparently is a teaser for a documentary film titled "Love Is To Die." How that connects/related to their upcoming record, only can be presumed in some direct or indirect way. But it hopefully will be soon. It's a bit like the new Mew record. They are sharing things they are busy with at least, but the actual record's information is still pending both on what it is, and even when exactly it'll be coming.
Warpaint 'Love Is to Die' Teaser
Visionary director Chris Cunningham spent 2 years with Warpaint, filming and photographing as they made new music. In addition to capturing imagery he also reimagined the songs themselves, creating beautiful and exciting alternate versions to soundtrack the visuals. The resulting documentary is something that only could have come from this unique meld of talents. The above teaser gives a little glimpse of what's in store...

The media market is huge, thus the need for a media review market.
This is our little contribution to that field.

Warpaint - New Songs Live
These videos were taken as the videos show, at their 2 shows on the Coachella cruise back on December 22nd/23rd 2012. Not the best quality, but listenable enough.
The sound seems naturally more mystical and slower like the work off The Fool (less than Exquisite Corpse EP). It's also interesting how they are not using 2 guitars on them. Perhaps the new record will have less guitar and more vocal layers or keys?
I guess they have been and are still? in the studio recording their sophomore LP. It wouldn't surprise me if it ends up being a Fall release, but hopefully it'll be released in 2013.
The titles on these songs are possibly just *working* titles, as often live versions can be.
"Drive"
"Keep It" or "Keep It Heal"
"Hi"

Warpaint - Jubilee (and Composure) @ Reading 2011
Well, nice video quality, and of course there's a boatload of live videos of Warpaint on Youtube, but not playing the unreleased track "Jubilee" as they did there recently. Good tune, and one that was being worked on but never finished for The Fool. Although I have heard the demo, it's been awhile. But the song itself isn't a *new* song in the sense it's newly written (post-The Fool), but it's definitely a new, and the final arrangement presumably. Whether it's released on their next LP, or as a single, or EP, etc remains to be seen. I don't believe it's going to be included on the "deluxe" edition of The Fool coming in a few weeks, as it wasn't listed anywhere, plus odds are they have not recorded this arrangement in the studio yet anyway. Also here's one of many great live versions of "Elephants" I just was streaming now. That along with some other videos from the Reading festival are on Youtube. And like I said, the video quality is as much a reason to check them out. Especially given the drought it's been for me to see them with the 1 show they scheduled here in Minneapolis getting canceled due to their difficulty with the Snow last March on the day of their show.

Warpaint: a quote or two. Album stream
link
Describing the new record’s title drummer Stella Mozgawa explained recently to interviewmagazine.com;
‘The Foolis a reference to a state of innocence, to push yourself to see who you are, with the potential of falling on your face to reach liberation. The risk of laughing at the wrong moment or to choose not to act like you know everything. As a band, we're all trying to be naked, if you will. As naked as we can be. I only wear clothes because it's illegal not to.’
The girls also described the album as a stoner’s record;
"It's stoner order. We made this album to listen to stoned," bassist Jenny Lee Lindberg told Interviewmagazine.com. "Originally, 'Set Your Arms Down', the first song, ended the album and 'Lissie's Heart Murmur' started it."
Singer Emily Kokal added: "Yeah, we definitely recommend listening to the new album after smoking. It's the best.
not a review coming at this time, as I should probably take the record in more 1st. But coming across this link with some of those quotes, it kind of adds something to what I think of this album I guess. 1 problem though for me being, I don't smoke and haven't been 'stoned' before. Perhaps I could do what I have tried doing once or twice at hippie/jam band shows (Ozric Tentacles) in listening to it while getting dizzy. At work? not likely, but maybe at home sometime, in a rare at-home listening moment. Perhaps with some wine.
The naked comment as well kind of stands out. Maybe for one, on their ep, there's 1 lyric that mentions getting naked. And I'll confess to having been exposed to 1 of the members of the band in said state. Kind of torn, but to not say it's hot and beautiful, well, would not be telling the whole truth.
These girls should do an interview (or more) for suicidegirls. Maybe they have, but if not, it totally would make sense.
A proper review of the actual music hopefully come later this week.
also the entire album can be streamed here for 1 week.

Warpaint - The Fool (2010) ****WORKING TITLE****
8/13/10 7:15PM

http://www.myoldkentuckyblog.com/?p=8233
that's 1 source. It's due on October 12th on Rough Trade Records
also the Emily Kokal Appreciation page's twitter confirmed it as well.
Finally good to see. That is also assuming that date sticks. Hopefully the mixing and mastering work is done now. Track list, artwork, etc and some interviews hopefully will come soon.
I really was anticipating this thing in 2011 with all the news of their tours and NOTHING it seemed about it. I cannot forget, they TOLD ME in October of 2009 "it should be out in the Spring"..well 6 months or so late is a LOT faster than some delays (see the 3rd Ours LP for one).
bumpage will happen when all those good deets come out of course.
