not that I'm a HUGE fan of StS or anything, but they're okay I suppose, but the fact he had 2 of the Kindo guys on this mainly intrigues me. And the fact it's supposed to be a more straight up instrumental jazz record. We'll see. 1st single next week. July 15th it drops.

Solo album is finished! The talent I had play on this record is incredible. Everyone added so many amazing elements I never thought of. Had a blast making it and cant wait to share it with the world!

The line-up:
Guitar: Chris Letchford
Bass: Evan Brewer (4 songs)
Bass: Mark Michell (6 songs)
Drums: Steven Padin (The Reign of Kindo)
Piano: Danny Pizarro (The Reign Of Kindo)(6 songs)
Piano: Steven Padin (4 songs)

"LIGHTBOX" will be out July 15th. CD/Digital

1 The Star Boys
2 Earthen
3 Sign of Four
4 Zodiac
5 Rayless

The Reign of Kindo on NA Tour (with Indiegogo) with Jolly and Scale the Summit Nov 2013

11/18/13 9:30PM

Needle & Thread clip

I'm not sure if the setlist is identical to this, as there are a couple of setlists on setlist.fm without "Dust."

Feeling In The Night
Thrill of the Fall
Great Blue Sea
Sing When No One's Around
Romancing a Stranger
Needle & Thread
The Moments In Between
October's Storm
Dust
The Hero, The Saint, The Tyrant, & The Terrorist
Just Wait

Anyway, just thought I'd share what is a very extensive and detailed review of the show on Friday night in Cleveland at "Now That's Class."

The fan who wrote this I know via Mike Portnoy's forum, and he often speaks up about a lot of the bands I enjoy around those parts.

It's too bad he didn't get to catch Scale the Summit, nor his impression of Jolly being incredible. But it did seem the venue may have played a part in that.

But I'm happy for him to see them, and hopefully I will have that chance in the near future as well. I suppose given I am at least getting to finally catch Miracles of Modern Science in Northfield on Wednesday, is a consolation for me as they are a band I do enjoy a lot, and have wanted to see live for awhile.

But also I've read some other reviews on mp.com from the tour and it sounds like TROK has impressed a lot of people, which seems like it could benefit them to touring more in the US in the future.

Even though I don't foresee being able catch a show on this tour, I hope others can still and get word about this campaign. Touring, especially for a band like them ain't cheap. Likely the biggest reason why they have not toured the States in 3 years (and this extensive?).

But hopefully this campaign will succeed and this will lead to many more tours that they won't have to find themselves struggling to pay for gas, staffing, etc.

9/9/13 11:44PM

11/2 Houston, TX - Fitzgeralds
11/3 Austin, TX - Red 7
11/5 Scottsdate, AZ - Pubrock
11/6 Los Angeles, CA - The Whisky A Go Go
11/7 San Francisco, CA - Thee Parkside
11/8 Portland, OR - Ash St. Saloon
11/9 Seattle, WA - Highline
11/11 Salt Lake City, UT - Shred Shed
11/12 Denver, CO - Marquis Theatre
11/13 Merriam, KS - Aftershock
11/14 Newport, KY - Southgate House
11/15 Cleveland, OH - TBD
11/16 Toronto, ON - Wreck Room
11/17 Montreal, QC - II Motore
11/18 Danbury, CT - Heirloom Arts Center
11/19 Boston, MA - Great Scott
11/20 New York, NY - Santos Party House
11/12 West Chester, PA - The Note
11/22 Norfolk, VA - The Iguana
11/23 Knoxville, TN - The Bowery
11/24 Nashville, TN - The End

I would love to go, but unfortunately it's not coming near me, and I'm already likely going to Milwaukee on 11/24 to see Michael Nesmith (budget).

The Reign of Kindo, as some have noticed, don't really tour all that much outside of their area (Northeast/New York/NYC?), save for Brazil a couple of times the last few years (I've wondered if some promoter down there is a big fan and has been able to front the $ for them). So to see them tour ANYWHERE actually is encouraging.

Optimistically: they don't lose money from this tour, and also on this tour, TROK gain some good exposure to not only new fans, but promoters who know Scale the Summit, and they are able end up doing more touring of the States next year to support Play With Fire (even as a support on a tour like this again).

If by some chance that happens, and if a tour date/dates even come to Chicago or Milwaukee, I can't see myself not going barring something like the May/June 2012 cluster-fuck of multiple out-of-town big event concerts in a short window of time that I don't have the budget for.

But I suppose at this point, I would be thankful if they were just able reprint their Self-Titled EP on cd at least.

The 3 bands together isn't incredibly surprising as I recall hearing about Chris Letchford of Scale the Summit being a fan of TROK, and Jolly? they've been a bit of a buzz band on the forums/blogs etc, for a few years now, opening for Flying Colors playing some of the prog festivals if I recall (and are playing Progressive Nation at Sea). But like TROK, they don't do a ton of touring of North America from memory, so this is a bit rare for them as well.

Cynic US Tour: Support 3, Anathema, STS

one posting with some dates

Cynic‘s upcoming tour with 3 has begun to take shape with initial dates available below. The trek will also apparently feature Scale The Summit and Anathema at a number of the stops with more details pending.

11/03 West Chester, PA – The Note (no 3)
11/05 New York, NY – Gramercy Theatre (“The Metal Suckfest“) (no 3)
11/11 Pontiac, MI – Clutch Cargo’s
11/12 Joliet, IL – Mojoes
11/13 St. Paul, MN – Station 4
11/18 Portland, OR – Hawthorne Theatre
11/22 San Francisco, CA – Slim’s
11/23 West Hollywood, CA – Key Club

I'll be going to the show on the 13th, however, it'll mean a lot more if in fact Anathema is there. Station 4? as I've said many times before about them, credit to them for booking good tours, but their sound and environment (namely how hot it gets) has really led me to sour about that place. So much so, I may even prefer 1st Crapenue now, lol.

But so be it. It's a show with some great bands, however the venue circumstances will have to be secondary. Perhaps they'll install air conditioning and have the right guy doing sound (unlike whoever did the last Fair to Midland show, along with Protest the Hero a few years ago).

Fair to Midland Periphery Scale the Summit March/April 2011 Tour

3/25/11 1:17AM

review should come this weekend. I can say, I do like Scale the Summit a lot more now after tonight. And the new Fair to Midland songs..specifically "Golden Parachutes" I am VERY anxious to hear.

3/24/11 11:44AM

this show is tonight. No Warpaint show last night. More should come soon about that and some kind of weird Twilight Zone/Voodoo/real-life unexplainable occurrences going on right now. Am I paranoid? no, I hope not. But, well I'll elaborate hopefully soon.

3/2/11 11:32AM

for those looking to attend any shows in Texas in regards to Fair to Midland.

Texas dates postponed
Cliff had emergency gall bladder removal surgery this weekend, and due to a couple of minor complications is not set to leave the hospital until tonight at the earliest. Needless to say this puts a damper on the first part of the I Am Not A Machine tour. We have unfortunately had to postpone the first week of the tour and are working to reschedule the dates to the end. The tour now begins on March 8th in Mesa, AZ.

The Austin and Houston shows have been moved to April 17th and 18th, respectively. We will announce the new Dallas date in the next few days. Your tickets will still be honored at the rescheduled shows, or can be refunded.

Thanks for everyone’s understanding and for keeping Cliff in their thoughts. We will update everybody soon on his condition and with new tour dates.
hopefully Cliff will have a safe and fast recovery.

Let's see, there's 1 band I love in Fair to Midland, 1 band I wanted to like in Periphery but they changed singers and had bad compression on the cymbals among issues with their debut album, and 1 band who I found rather overrated even before they showed up on Progressive Nation 2009. However, I've never seen Periphery live and may want to give Scale the Summit another shot, especially with their 2nd album coming in 2011.

That all being said, Fair to Midland has/had a *big* announcement coming tomorrow, Tuesday the 18th. I wonder if this was it, but hope it was the album title and release date. I guess we'll find out tomorrow.

This tour at a minimum can and should be a good way to get more people exposed to Fair to Midland and hopefully to jump start what should be a big year for them in 2011. And I can't complain as it'll be my 9th FtM concert in 4 years, lol.

I also just noticed this:
