TEXTURES have announced the title of their new album — Dualism — which will see its release in Europe, South America, Australia and Asia on the 23th of September and in North America on the 27th of September via Nuclear Blast Records. The album was recorded at Split Second Sound Studio in Amsterdam, The Netherlands and was produced by guitar player Jochem Jacobs. The first single, “Reaching Home,” will be released on 19th of August through all major download sites.

The artwork of the album was designed by former TEXTURES’ frontman Eric Kalsbeek and the band’s bass player Remko Tielemans. Eric had the following to say: ‘The guys asked me to co-create the artwork together with Remko, for good old times’ sake. Of course I said yes! I might not be in the band anymore, but I’m still involved in some ways. We’re still pretty close, you know. It was a challenge, it had to be ‘different’ but still Textures-like. Hope you like it!’

In support of the album the band will extensively tour the United States, Canada, UK, France and The Netherlands.

So I had read about their upcoming album off and on, but here are the more specific details. September 23rd release date. More cramming at the end of the year of course. 2008's Silhouettes was pretty underwhelming I recall, after I was pretty excited to hear it. I really enjoy 2006's Drawing Circles though.

These guys were doing "djent" before it existed, in a way. But maybe their sound would be best called just groove oriented proggy tech/death. I dunno. It has been a few years since I even really listened to them, so perhaps this new record will renew my taste and memory of them more so. I do know they're light years better than pretty much 99% of any of the other bands described as "djent." But they don't entirely get the recognition they deserve (or as much as many of the "djent" bands..Periphery perhaps?).

Fair to Midland Periphery Scale the Summit March/April 2011 Tour

3/25/11 1:17AM

review should come this weekend. I can say, I do like Scale the Summit a lot more now after tonight. And the new Fair to Midland songs..specifically "Golden Parachutes" I am VERY anxious to hear.

3/24/11 11:44AM

this show is tonight. No Warpaint show last night. More should come soon about that and some kind of weird Twilight Zone/Voodoo/real-life unexplainable occurrences going on right now. Am I paranoid? no, I hope not. But, well I'll elaborate hopefully soon.

3/2/11 11:32AM

for those looking to attend any shows in Texas in regards to Fair to Midland.

Texas dates postponed
Cliff had emergency gall bladder removal surgery this weekend, and due to a couple of minor complications is not set to leave the hospital until tonight at the earliest. Needless to say this puts a damper on the first part of the I Am Not A Machine tour. We have unfortunately had to postpone the first week of the tour and are working to reschedule the dates to the end. The tour now begins on March 8th in Mesa, AZ.

The Austin and Houston shows have been moved to April 17th and 18th, respectively. We will announce the new Dallas date in the next few days. Your tickets will still be honored at the rescheduled shows, or can be refunded.

Thanks for everyone’s understanding and for keeping Cliff in their thoughts. We will update everybody soon on his condition and with new tour dates.
hopefully Cliff will have a safe and fast recovery.

Let's see, there's 1 band I love in Fair to Midland, 1 band I wanted to like in Periphery but they changed singers and had bad compression on the cymbals among issues with their debut album, and 1 band who I found rather overrated even before they showed up on Progressive Nation 2009. However, I've never seen Periphery live and may want to give Scale the Summit another shot, especially with their 2nd album coming in 2011.

That all being said, Fair to Midland has/had a *big* announcement coming tomorrow, Tuesday the 18th. I wonder if this was it, but hope it was the album title and release date. I guess we'll find out tomorrow.

This tour at a minimum can and should be a good way to get more people exposed to Fair to Midland and hopefully to jump start what should be a big year for them in 2011. And I can't complain as it'll be my 9th FtM concert in 4 years, lol.

I also just noticed this:

Periphery: - Periphery (2010)

3/4/10 12:54AM
"Light" is there

sounds decent.

Icarus Lives can be streamed hera

I'm not so sure about this track.

track list? I can't find one anywhere right now.

I guess the drums are programmed, blech. The new singer sounds okay I guess from pc speakers.

This may be a feast or famine deal. production quality may kill my interest in this album. But then again, they sound potentially really good, like as good if not better than a band like Painted in Exile. But this "Djent" and almost pure 'Core style seems to blur and bores me to death at times.

Then again, this is just a debut record.

4/20/10 Self-titled debut album drops.

PERIPHERY ANNOUNCES SINGER AND NEW ALBUM SAMPLER CLIP!
Periphery have announced their new full time vocalist Spencer Sotelo who can be seen with the band live on the upcoming Veil of Maya, Animals As Leaders, Circle of Contempt tour starting January 29th - February 20th. The band has also been confirmed to support Kittie and God Forbid from May 3rd - May 11th. Their self titled debut album will hit stores everywhere April 20th.

They have a singer finally, they are finishing up recording their album. And I worry that the cymbals are horribly clipping as a result of compression, based on those quick samples.

Oh and their tours are not coming to Minnesota (no surprise).
