edit: the last 3 minutes are godly. Like The Apologist-amazing. Probably the best track heard so far. This album is seeming better and better.

Story with VIDEO for "Clapping on the Ones and Threes"

great tune! and very cool Short animated Film/Video, etc.

I wonder if the older guy ends up killing in-effect a younger version of himself? I dunno, I'll have to watch it again and read through the lyrics. The Film/Video has a bit of Tool vibe to it. 

But very progressive, dynamic, melodic. I don't mind the vocals being all-clean.

The article mentions I recall the band being a 3-piece now, and it appears they are in the film/video. I didn't realize that 1 of the members left.

But regardless, this adds to my interest for sure. If this album is even close to The Apologist I may get addicted to it.

Silly song title, but once I get a chance to hear this tomorrow, that may not matter.

In short, I LOVE The Apologist from 2011 and Farmer's Almanac is another favorite. Their last album Redaction Artifacts from 2013. I honestly don't recall all that much about.

I also dug their Nick Drake cover of "River Man" quite a lot a few years ago (picking up the 7" vinyl in fact).

EAST OF THE WALL Announce Recording Plans For New Album

EAST OF THE WALL is extremely excited to announce that they will enter the studio on May 8th to begin work on their next record, The Apologist. The New Jersey-based technical metal unit will be recording at Translator Audio in Brooklyn, New York with Andrew Schneider, renowned for his work with Cave In, Pelican, Keelhaul, Unsane, Rosetta, City of Ships, Made Out of Babies and many others.

The tentative track listing for The Apologist is as follows:

While their follow-up record (in a way), 2010's Ressentiment, I didn't care for, I am still certainly interested to hear this. 2008's Farmer's Almanac is one of the best instrumental/heavy post/prog-rock albums in recent years. Ressentiment did have vocals on it, which actually, I recall wasn't really an issue I had with it. The highly compressed cymbal mixes/masters are largely what made me struggle to get through it. I remember trying twice to play it, and it was almost painful. I forced myself to partly due to the fact they were playing a concert in town soon after hearing it. And partially due to how much I enjoyed Farmer's Almanac.

And at that show last Summer, which was a last-minute booking at Tarnish & Gold, which I sadly arrived too late to see them, I got to chat with 1 or more of the members, and I recall them not denying the production issues. They were cool guys anyway. But believing them following my take on their last album, I hope those compression issues on the cymbals will not be evident again with this next record The Apologist, and is one I and many others will enjoy.

The other thing about Ressentiment was how it was a collection of old demos re-recorded I guess, whereas this new album is ALL NEW music which gives more reason for optimism. They're really more of a "band" now, as opposed to before being members of 3 different projects (Postman Syndrome, Day Without Dawn, and Biclops)

2008's "Farmer's Almanac" was pretty good. I guess I like this band more for their progressive post-metal of sorts, style. Long Distance Calling I like more, and Shelter Red perhaps as much. But being a fan of those bands and of course Russian Circles (namely Enter), I am looking forward to this. I just remember never being able to track a hard copy of Farmer's Almanac and always hoping to at Cheapo. I should check amazon used and some other spots.

East of the Wall (who are now mostly members of The Postman Syndrome, although I never got too into that band.

edit: on their myspace page, they also have something called "Get In Touch" tour dates listed for the Summer (along with a bunch of other dates) and July 24th they are projecting apparently to try and play in Minneapolis, Madison, WI or Wausau (or some other spot I'd presume).

I'd definitely go see them if they came here; I just don't know what the chances of getting them booked in town. The Triplerock, Entry, 400 Bar, or maybe The Varsity would be likely spots. It's with some band called "Name."
