Liking these, although I can't help but be reminded of Green Carnation with their singer and not Paul Kuhr. So be it, love these tunes, the middle eastern parts especially,

Jeez another announcement, lol. Stoked for this one as I love their whole catalog including 2015's The Great Bazaar.

September 1st is the release date.

"Vagabond" by the way, I think of the Kiss Kiss song. Also cool they are signed for a 2-album deal and plan to tour extensively. Maybe North America finally? (Minnesota hopefully if so, like maybe if they open for a bigger/more well known band, etc..Opeth..Katatonia..etc)

Also worth noting is I guess this will be the 1st album without Paul Kuhr on vocals, but they have Kjetil Nordhus back (singer from Green Carnation), and Eliran Weitzman along with Tomer Pink to fill the growling need,

Israeli/Norwegian prog-rockers Subterranean Masquerade have signed with the Swedish label ViciSolum Productions (Persefone, Loch Vostok, a.o.) for a 2-album deal, starting off with the newly finished album "Vagabond", set for release on September 1st. The band features members of Orphaned Land and Green Carnation, and is one of the most exciting ethnic-influenced prog-artists to emerge from the underground layer these days. It's prog-rock, but it's also psychedelic 70'ies metal. It's "Jesus Christ Superstar" but it's also Israeli folklore and traditional heavy metal - all wrought through the grinder and delivered perfectly by a bunch of very talented musicians.

The album was mixed by Christer Andre Cederberg (Anathema, Tristania, etc.) and mastered by Tony Lindgren @ Fascination Street studio, which has secured the final crunchy approach in the sound, so all parameters are met for ultimate quality.

not too surprised; Pain of Salvation, Fates Warning, maudlin of the Well and SikTh are nowhere to be found. Also Burst (whose album "Lazarus Bird" I find better than any album Mastodon ever made) and Green Carnation's "Light of Day, Day of Darkness" are sadly not even in the spectrum of this list. That being said, the list is decent, although I don't care for Tool nor most Meshuggah, but instead of 10, this list probably could have been a Top 20 or 25.

Whole album in my inbox this morning along with now up to STREAM and DOWNLOAD. Release date I thought was officially tomorrow. Anyway, fan-fucking-tastic record. Reviews pending (both written and Video), but my goal is this week sometime. I would say it's battling another record mentioned of late in this blog for the top spot already.

Album pushed back until December per the situation in Israel. While it does kind of suck for now, it makes sense. Another 3 months doesn't seem like much. It won't be on the Countdown, but whatever, it just means 2014-2015 will be all the better. with the way things are going, albums from many others will end up in the next season too (Kaddisfly?).

Hello All

Due to the recent fighting in the South of Israel we have decided to push back the release of "THE GREAT BAZAAR" from September to December. Reason being is that we want people to approach our new music with nothing but enthusiasm for what it is.

.rather orchestral, and the vocals naturally do sound like Green Carnation. The build up that starts around the 3 minute mark is pretty sweet.

The way the new track reads, with the Kjetil Nordhus (of Green Carnation) sang vocal track "Tour Diary" has me intrigued to say the least. More info will of course be put in this entry when it's available (which it sounds like it should be rather soon).

I can't see myself not ordering the Vinyl.

Subterranean Masquerade reveal the artwork for the upcoming album, titled "THE GREAT BAZAAR" and compile 7 new tracks that clocks over 40 minutes. "I think we covered almost every genre we enjoy playing", says the band song writer Tomer Pink, "it has progressive metal themes along with melodic folk, blasting death metal riffage wrapped with rich ensemble orchestration, a wide range of instruments including violins, brass section, flutes and clarinets, Arabic instruments such as Persian Tar, Turkish Saz and Oud, lots of Keys and synths and even a guest appearance by Kobi Farhi of Orphaned Land"

Subterranean masquerade are pleased and excited to announce Kjetil Nordhus (Green Carnation, Tristania) as the band's new singer. Kjetil is joining Paul Kuhr of Novembers Doom and These Are They, who have been with the band since the first album.

"This is a great honor for us and a massive step forward for the band" says the band mastermind and song writer Tomer Pink. "I've been a fan of Kjetil work since the early Green Carnation albums, this is a dream come true!".

"I have known about Subterranean Masquerade for years, since Green Carnation's time together with them on The End Records. Not a ton to add other than the fact I do enjoy some of Green Carnation's music (like most, I find Light of Day, Day of Darkness more or less a flawless record, mainly for what it is, and the approach the band took), and to hear the drummer of Orphaned Land involved too adds something potentially.

The comeback LP for these guys I knew wasn't far away, but with this news, it adds some more intrigue certainly.

I also wonder a little bit about the potential for them to play live, tour, etc and the longer term future as this reads like the members are looking to invest more time into SM than before. Perhaps seeing them in concert in the next few years may be a possibility? I suppose look at Cynic for one, even though Cynic are American and SM are kind of spread out. Certainly November's Doom have toured, so maybe Paul Kuhr would like to try and do the same with this now regularly working? band?
