Today, March 24th, 2017 is sort of a significant day in terms of a number of things happening.
#1 it is both the 6-month Wedding and 6-year (unofficially) Anniversaries for me and my wife. The 6th month was the wedding 9/24/16. Something her and I labored over for literally 18 months or more. And the truth is, there's still a few things to take care of (Thank You notes, gift storage, Photo prints, etc). The 6-Year anniversary is unlikely the date 3/24/11, that we went on our 1st date. It's close, and we hung out outside of KFAI at least twice (1 being at Cheapo+Davanni's in Uptown on a Saturday or Sunday, the other being 1 week night at Memory Lanes and then KFAI to practice for her Board Cerification). But months later and in 2012, we stuck with 3/24/11, even though I think the official 1st date was on a Saturday or possibly Sunday (I'm pretty sure a Saturday) in March of 2011 which looking at the Calendar, was likely the 26th. It may have been the 19th. But we went to a movie at the late Block E theater in downtown. The movie: Take Me Home Tonight (Topher Grace). Then we had dinner at The late Cafeteria in Uptown. Sad how both venues are *late* aka gone/done, etc.
#2 The 22 album You Are Creating: Limb 1 is released along with the Tuxedo II. Tuxedo I can check out, but 22? I preordered the Vinyl, and would hope it would include a download link, but no dice as of right now. Why I have next to no faith in Preorders, even though I pass them along. I do them namely if the artist is small/underground, etc and genuinely needs my help ($). But the idea to expect an early or even on-the-release-date download link if you preorder a physical copy (Vinyl or CD), is really not something I expect. But it still sucks. It has been almost 7 year since the 22 debut album, having to wait a few more hours/days won't kill me. But it still seems unfair and silly on principal. If I ever did it, I would make sure to send the preorders a link, a few days before the release.
#3 The premiere of Wilson, the Daniel Clowes movie based on the Graphic Novel and his adapted screenplay. I'm not sure when I will get to see it. Maybe this weekend, maybe next week. It likely will be soon. It was of course filmed in the Twin Cities including down the street in St.Paul from my wife's place. And I met Woody Harrelson and a couple of other cast from it back in 2015. And last year I met Clowes himself, although he was in town doing a q and a and signing for his new book, not so much for Wilson. But it was very cool to finally meet him.
Where are the reviews? no idea. Chris Stuckmann, What the Flick? Collider Videos, Richard Roeper, Michael Phillips?..can't find them at this point.
It is only showing at Lagoon and Willow Creek in the Northwest Metro suburbs right now. Quite sad. Let's hope it receives more distribution soon; per the known reviews I've seen including at Sundance, have been very positive.

That Drummer Guy Presents 5-Year Anniversary (+ a note or 2)
I contributed to this among a handful of other friends, Podcasters, bands/musicians, bloggers, and social media people Josh aka That Drummer Guy knows and is supported by.
My voice comes in around the 1:47 mark, and in listening to it again, I kind of went on a bit longer than I would have preferred, but I wasn't the only one.
So, it is great to see Josh celebrate his 5th Anniversary of That Drummer Guy Presents.
On notes of Anniversaries and Milestones, as I mentioned there, I can relate to him in a lot of ways, and this blog does have kind of a big anniversary of sorts coming up. Now I'm not 1 to make a huge fuss out of Anniversaries really, but I suppose certain milestones stand out more than others.
So, when that does eventually come, which isn't too far away, I *MAY* also try doing something for it. I have an idea or 2, but I'm not sure how it will come out exactly. I can say, I don't anticipate doing what Josh did exactly, but I may do something on YouTube, but more likely it'll be something in here that may or may not come across as cheesy. I guess to throw a bone, it may just be something I've never fully done before along the lines of an FAQ, etc. Cheesy and too-much-time-on-my-hands? quite possibly, but I'll see. This blog has rarely if ever pulled any punches or held back comments or styles of entries, I guess I'm not sure why in this case, it would be any different.
And there also is another milestone, which in all likelihood, will come in a year or 2, but for that 1, it may include something more dramatic.

Kaddisfly - Demos & Rarities (2011)

Seriously, these are TREMENDOUS. I dig Water & Bodies, but these are just, so fucking good. So big, dynamic, epic, powerful.
Most fans, including those who are very into W&B still stand by the belief K-Fly are more or less done. But if you do hear it from some that know the guys (Dan Fury and some others namely), they'll still stick with Kaddisfly is not ultimately done, and someday Horses Galloping on Sailboats will be fully written and recorded.
edit: This is a collection of demos and rarities recorded between 2007- 2008. There is no timeline for when Horses Galloping on Sailboats will be recorded. These songs are for all the fans that have stuck with us and shown their love. This marks our 10 year anniversary. Thank you.

The last thing I heard in regards to Kaddisfly, was some talk of doing a reunion show, I want to say the hope was this fall, but I don't believe it ever happened.
Anyway, as far as this release, they sound awesome, and you know what? I am going to likely include these in my 2011 Index, as silly as it sounds. These songs I'll probably go back to, at least a few times in the coming weeks, to believe this collection, even just as demos (and what sounds like pretty damn well produced demos, at that), they are as good if not better than many records from earlier this year.
Also the fact, I fucking love Kaddisfly doesn't hurt.
Along with last year, while at least it was in November, those The River Empires Demos/Rarities were somewhat in a similar in coming-in-at-the-last-minute-but-still-too-good-not-to-forget.
I dunno, maybe putting these up may spark something new from Kaddisfly camp in 2012? Water & Bodies have done their thing, 2 EPs and a full-length. If Kile and Beau are both available in some capacity, maybe those guys could find the time next year. I know a ton of fans would be totally overjoyed. In the mean time, I and those fans are going to love the fuck out of these tunes.
And to think, some moron at Atlantic Records chose Circa Survive over hearing these? lol. So typical, yet still incredibly pathetic.
oh and one other note, I likely would have been on these earlier, but I just saw The Book of Right On headline at The Cedar Cultural Center. Incredible show (from them namely). But to say that along with a cold and stuff with the gf may make the near impossible, just that (impossible) given net hours to write 50 some blurbs. My best guess will be I'll email and call-in to Used Bin Radio on Tuesday night, and at least by the time said show is aired the next week on purerockradio.com along with the podcast shared, a great amount if not all 50 + blurbs will be available.
But for now, tomorrow, maybe Monday, I will only get done what I can, and publish what makes sense. All of it by Tuesday's call-in? if I get in-the-zone, perhaps. But pulling that off would be one of those miracle-jobs of mine.
It also is probably worth mentioning, the 5-year anniversary of this blog came on December 4th, 2011, but I didn't write anything officially until December 21st. So this Wednesday is sort in-effect my 5-year anniversary. What may I do for it? I honestly don't know right now; perhaps something along the lines of sharing 1 or 2 memories/entries or something, lol. Or maybe nothing more than writing "Happy 5 years. Now it's time for me to quit..or maybe my goal now is to see if I can waste more of my life away in the next 5 years, so by December 21st, 2016 I'll know."
