Rest in Peace Paul O'Neill (Savatage, Trans Siberian Orchestra)

This came out of nowhere somewhat, although for some reason I thought I heard or read an interview a few years back about him having an illness. No specifics, but I wonder if it may be cancer (which seems to be the most common anyway).

This is quite sad, as he was a big part of Savatage and Trans Siberian Orchestra especially. The few times I saw both, I don't recall if he was with them.

None-the-less, he will definitely be missed. I guess he's jamming up in heaven with Criss Oliva.

Thanks for all the great music and everything you did for both 'Tage and TSO of course.

Rest in Peace Paul.

The entire Trans-Siberian Orchestra family, past and present, is heartbroken to share the devastating news that Paul O’Neill has passed away from chronic illness.
He was our friend and our leader -- a truly creative spirit and an altruistic soul. This is a profound and indescribable loss for us all.
We ask that you respect Paul’s family’s privacy now.
We will make additional announcements shortly.

Savatage + Trans Siberian Orchestra interview

I found this interview interesting. It's from a few weeks ago I think the day before Savatage and Trans Siberian Orchestra did a joint show/reunion thing at the Wacken festival in Germany.

I'm not sure if there is any footage from that show on YouTube, but if not, it sounds potentially incredible.

Jon Oliva, Paul O'Neill and Al Pitrelli are interviewed.

I'd love for a Savatage reunion someday, although the odds are next to zero I imagine.
