Neverending White Lights - Act III: Love Will Ruin (2011) (1.0)

5/2/11 12:34AM

This interview lasts about 20 minutes, but it's definitely worth watching for anyone whose a fan or curious about Daniel Victor and NWL. The ending includes the video of the Act I track "The Grace." Really great, beautiful tune, and an interesting video.

The most significant thing in the interview itself is how Daniel mentions the target or hope is to release this new record in July.

We'll see. But he explains a lot about how its come to this point. More or less explaining what's happened over the last 4 years, the issues, stress, and some 80 or 90 songs were written and many thrown out. And he has 12 or so that are looking to be included on it.

Another interesting point are the differences he mentions, with only a handful..(half) the songs including guest singers. Also many of the songs are longer, 6 or 7 minute pieces.

This record, while not a number 1 hope or expectation, the more I hear about it, the more I am going in without a ton of expectations. Even just WHEN it does come out. When he or any artist says a month like "July" as was said only a few months ago with "March"..it could find it's way to being released in October or November even, for any number of reasons.

I do like how much effort and thought about the songs and record as a whole it seems it will have. None of it will seem mailed-in certainly. But the status of it, even with the new single "Falling Apart" is still at a wait-and-see. If there's not a lot of info about it by mid-June even, I am just going to be of the belief, it'll come out eventually, but not until specifics are given.

NEW SONG PREVIEW! ALBUM ANNOUNCEMENT!
NEW SONG PREVIEW! ALBUM ANNOUNCEMENT!

The official release date of the new Neverending White Lights album, ACT III: Love Will Ruin has been moved to March 2011.

I had the misfortune of rupturing a vocal cord a couple months ago. The doctors told me I couldn't sing, perform or speak for some time. There was simply no way for me to release a new album this year. Unfortunately, before I was aware of the severity of my condition (I thought it was merely a cold) I had been performing and recording with it. I even tracked one of the final vocals with it, forcing the sounds out of me through the pain, not realizing I was only damaging myself worse. Much worse. The specialist keeps telling me that if it scars, I may never be able to sing again. It's a lot to think about, and I really want to take this fall to focus on getting better. I'm keeping a positive outlook on things.

In the meantime, I'm going to post a BRAND NEW SONG!! This is only available for preview ONE WEEK ONLY. This is the first new music NWL has released to the public in three years. At least you will get a sense of what I've been up to. I hope you enjoy it.
GO LISTEN HERE NOW: The Lonely War by Neverending White Lights

This NWL track features Evan Konrad of the band Bed of Stars. He is the most recent signing to my Ocean record label, and I've just finished producing his debut E.P due out next year. If you've followed me online, you know who he is. His immense talent is awe-inspiring, and his vocal range is astounding. A true gem. Please visit his Myspace page and lose yourself: http://www.bedofstars.bandcamp.com

I will announce the NWL website launch sometime later this fall. And also an Act III track list, guest information and some other new songs for preview.
Thank you for waiting patiently, and I hope this news finds you in good (better) health (than me).

Obviously this is good news to read about even with it being pushed back until March. That new song is nice, and Daniel's totally right about Evan Konrad from Bed of Stars. I checked out some of his videos a few months back when he came into a chat session while watching Daniel and another friend jam/improv live on video.

But hopefully no scarring occurred of course. The track list and guests should be interesting to see. I would not expect Jimmy Gnecco though, since I recall asking him about it last Spring when I saw him.

But with this added to the 2011 calendar..again, 2011 looks to be >> than 2010. We'll see.
