REACT TO: 89.3 The Current Top 893 Songs from 2005-2025

 Facebook Post from April 15th

https://www.thecurrent.org/feature/2025/04/07/vote-for-the-893-essential-songs-of-the-current

April 23, 2025

The Current is celebrating its 20th anniversary with the 893 Essential Songs of The Current: 2005 to Now. The listener-voted countdown celebrates the biggest songs released in the past 20 years that were played on The Current .

Voting is open now, and runs until midnight on Sunday, April 27. Then, tune in to hear the results during Minnesota Public Radio's Spring Member Drive from 7 a.m. on Monday, May 12, until 7 p.m. on Friday, May 16.

Vote for up to 15 songs using the embedded ballot below. For each, first choose an artist/band by scrolling or typing in a search. Then, make a choice from the list of songs by that band in The Current’s library. After you’ve completed your ballot, hit “SUBMIT.”

This year’s 893 Essentials giveaway is two VIP three-day tickets to Minnesota Yacht Club Festival, held July 18-20 at Harriet Island in St. Paul. Enter for a chance to win.

Thanks to everyone who submitted a ballot. Voting is now closed!

Playlist Countdown Page

So, I have only vaguely paid attention to these lame lists 89.3 does during their Spring Fun Drive for MPR, and I didn't vote of course, but even if I had wanted and tried to, just reading a few comments on Facebook, they limited it even more than in the past. The sounder even states "893 Essential Songs The Current Plays" or something to that effect.

So, in glancing at the list, and it is only songs that came out from 2005-present, man, there's some real dreck and super obscure stuff..even for Hipsters.

But, I will for shits and eyerolls of course, likely pay attention and see what ends up on it. The sheep being brain washed to champion the Hipster Brand of limited flavors of modern music.

And I may think of even doing a YouTube commentary about it. But I also of course thought of just making my own. Although 893 as I've stated in their past lists that long, would be a time consuming task in a short window.

People were allowed to vote for 20 songs though per the description in that now closed voting link/page.

So, here's 20 390+ songs I guess that if that had write-ins, I could have done.

97% or more of the artists were not included, kind of going back to my feeling, I could curate a much more engaging playlist than their sheep-ish "members" with narrow-minded taste, lapping up whatever Pitchfork and the First Avenue umbrella force-feeds their ears.

edit: This is hardly complete, but from a general gauge, it's like taking the last 20 years, and finding 20 different artists every year.

I also may want to try re-sorting and labeling these by year.

It is a pretty nice estimation of music of the last 2 decades on MY RADAR at least.

I mentioned it a few times on YouTube, I will likely this coming week, try and do an abridged review of this on YouTube. We'll see. It's super EPIC being 390+ songs.

The YouTube game...

Just another example about how YouTube and/or their fancy "algorithm" favors certain things, people, etc over others.

Link

This person (Woman) just launched a new channel 10 days ago. She has put up 3 videos.

1st video = 6 thousand views

2nd video = 14 thousand views

3rd video = 6.5 thousand views

And how many Subscribers does the channel have? 1.81 thousand or 1800, lol.

Why or how is that? Well, she is a woman for 1 thing, and women YouTubers get more eyeballs in general, especially in a Male-dominated demographic like Music and Vinyl Collecting.

Also YouTube suggested her channel.

I guess she is a collector and has a store or something, so perhaps some of the people who have watched her videos and subscibed came from there.

But otherwise, myself, at it for over 11 years, and she quadruples my Sub count in less than a FortNight with 3 videos.

I call conspiracy to how YouTube is run. Because she's an attractive woman, then she gets people to watch her videos. It's so fucking fair.

Another reason the 1000 Video Count -> Hiatus is reason to happen.

I mean I'll give her, she may actually make good content. She did show a copy of Jeff Buckley's Sin:e, although the others she showed were not my bag. But it has less to do with her, and more to do with how YouTube works. But after so long and so many hours spent working on YouTube, it really seems super unfair that in some cases, it doesnt take all that much to gain at least a small audience.

I might be better off starting a new channel and go for clickbaity shit altogether someday. My focus intends to be on the potential Podcast though post-1000 videos, but Shorts and some other things might still happen. But I may consider a New channel,  new click-baity name and whatnot, just as an experiment. I'll see. 1000 videos? based on my guess, sometime by 2027..maybe even late 2026 depending on how much I'm able to do.

Wolves..OKC

8 fucking views..go figure.

I'll likely make at least 1 more video about the WCF. I do still hold true to my feeling about OKC. Their defense is at times, very effective, and part of that is playing 9 or 10 guys.

But they still get away with fucking murder and it feeds it.

They resemble the Bad Boys in some ways, how smothering they are.

Did the Wolves play up to their potential? no. Had they, could have won? I still contend they could have.

But it does go back to that video and this thing we have seen so many more times. Why this loss and so many other Final 4 losses or even a few championship round losses in the history of Minnesota Sports is to always be ASSUMED.

OKC down the road gonna have a dynasty..youngest team in the league, blah blah..that remains to be seen. Let's see if they even win the title 1st. If it is the Pacers, I may not watch that much, but I'll admit, if the series is closer, or if Indiana goes up on them..I may.

Not that I love the Pacers, but I respect them after those 2 losses and after beating Cleveland, who I contend, impressed me more than OKC this season. They dealt with injuries. But the Pacers did them in.

But the question is..can the Wolves do more, learn more to beat OKC and for that matter, the other Western Conference teams that'll get better. Lakers, Spurs, Rockets even. Can they? Maybe even the fucking Mavericks..although again with Flagg..I wouldn;'t be shocked if he doesn't end up being as hyped as he's getting.

I kind of think unless Ant does progress a lot, also demanding teammates to play better..that he actually may be best as a 1b or even #2. Dwayne Wade who he reminds me most of. Not Jordan or Kobe.

Ant needs a guy like Jokic or Giannis. Put Ant and Giannis together, and some effective role players and they could win. But I'm uncertain at his current ability, he can be the clear cut #1. Randle and Kat were good, but they were not 1a or 1b level enough. Ant would thrive as a #2 or a #1a or #1b, drawing the defense, so he would not be swarmed so much.

He needs to benefit from being 1 on 1 for the majority of the game. The last 2 seasons, that hasn't happened, and it's affected him.

Plus this is 2 straight years of WCF meltdowns. Not showing up in Game 5. And now looking at it, it does have the feel of those Yankees Twins series, or 41-0 or 38-7 Vikings meltdowns.

If tonight they had loss like Game 4 or even maybe Games 1-2, I don't know if it would feel quite as bad. I mean after what happened in Game 4, it was like, that's it. We can't win, give OKC the game and series.

We can't beat them, we won't be able to beat them because they're deep, young, and had this gaudy record., 5th best all-time. So that means they're the 5th greatest team in NBA History? lol..and their depth, youth, and now experience deems them to dominate the NBA for extended years? So why even try?

or why even bother paying attention to the NBA? kind of like I did tune it out in the mid-late 2010's.

They're a boring team to watch anyway, lol

Back to the French Open and the PGA tour it is I guess....

Bots and YouTube...

I didn't fully realize, but the more I think about it, the lost views and the gained and lost subscribers I see on my YouTube channel are due to Bots.

Bots watch and sub, and then unsub. They get flagged by YouTube.

And when I get new subscribers and don't see who it is, there;s a good chance it's a Bot.

Lovely..blech.

Another reason my plans at 1000 videos make sense...

But of course many views are from non-subs of course, lol.

------------------------------------

This is a beta test/dry-run deal. That's a playlist for May/Mid Spring 2005.

15 Songs/Tracks 2 hours, 11 minutes exactly or 131 minutes.

Script? haven't done it yet or for this one, but I may try. I would estimate if this is the 2 hours 11 minutes it is, with talking, the Podcast would go maybe but not quite 3 hours, but close.

Paige Bueckers..twitter paused

The Trash that never ends from the weak feeble minded trolls are among several reasons I've Paused twitter indefinitely.

The clips of Paige were decent in her 1st preseason game with the Dallas Wings.

1st game for fuck's sake.

"4th best rookie in the game" bullshit.

These mofos needs to go back to Troll school.

Music Release History Radio Show/Podcast and PLAYLISTS (immediately) Update

The plan is looking to be:

YouTube: likely on Pause at or around 1000 videos barring something changing to focus on this in the short and maybe long term. Shorts and.or TikTok on the other hand may be still done. This likely will be sometime in 2026 or 2027..maybe 2028 even. It mostly depends on when I hit 1000 videos

Instead of 20 Songs and 3 hours..it'll likely be more like by decade

60's: 5 songs

70's: 5 or possibly up to 10 songs

80's: 5 or possibly up to 10 songs

90's: 10 songs or possibly more

2000's: 10 or maybe closer to 20 songs

2010's: 10 or maybe closer to 20 songs

2020's: 10 or maybe closer to 20 songs

Windows of time:

Selecting 1 month that includes songs from releases released in January along with the releases from the previous month and the following month. Aka a 'Season" and a part of the season that, that month is. So the following months are considered:

January: Early Winter (+December and February)

February: Mid Winter (+January and March)

March: Late Winter (+February and April)

April: Early Spring (+March and May)

May: Mid Spring (+April and June)

June: Late Spring (+May and July)

July: Early Summer (+June and August)

August: Mid Summer (+July and September)

September: Late Summer (+August and October)

October: Early Fall (+September and November)

November: Mid Fall (+October and December)

December: Late Fall (+November and January)

So January (Early Winter) would include songs from December and February,
February (Mid Winter) would include songs from January and March, etc

And the songs chosen are intended to be nearly all from the information I have on the release Date or Month.

Playlists and then a podcast at some point? Initially, a Playlist and I may do a writeup (or script per say). The hope would be if the time is allowed, to record an actual Podcast where I get to play historical DJ and put it up on Substack or Mixcloud. Clips? well..not ideally, but that may find a way to get around copyright concerns (and Mixcloud or Substack vs YouTube, Spotify, etc).

And the Radio Station name (or Podcast even) may be called KAMR or WAMR
(AMR = All Media Reviews, K or W being common for the 1st Letter in a Radio Station depending on location based on where they are broadcasting from relative to being East or West of the Mississippi River I guess).

Doing the same Month/Season multiple times? yes because some albums/releases will not necessarily be included due to the song/time limit. So going back to a month/season would make sense depending on how committed I get. It may be several years though before the same month/season is done again.

Research? while I've done a lot, there's still a lot to do of course. I estimated, it's approximately 720 Months/Seasons going back to 1965 through the present. I will do as much as I can, but also may do some on the fly aka I have many of them in order and listed, but will miss some, and then go back at some point. Hence that among other reasons to plan to do the same Month/Season again eventually.

Introducing JAKE ALLEN - Michigan musician..and other Favorite modern songwriters...

Kevin Gilbert

Jeff Buckley

Jimmy Gnecco

Casey Crescenzo

Joey Eppard

Matt Mahaffey (sElf)

Jessy Ribordy

Fjokra

Gavin Castleton

Sheena Ringo

Michael Mills (Toehider)

Bryan Scary

Jared Draughon

Jake Allen?

Many others I'm not listing here..but this guy Jake Allen..omg, I'm getting attched to his 2020 record Affirmation Day over the last couple of days.

Something is brewing and if given the time, I'll try and write something and/or film a video on YouTube about this guy.

Definitely 1 of those cases where you hear someone's music and it hits you like a ton of bricks how amazing much of it is.

Bryan Scary and I suppose, include Sheena and even Jared Draughon's in the last time this happened to me over the last couple of years.

What may get me maybe the most in some ways is he is may be the 1st one of these people who I know is/was a fan and influenced by Kevin Gilbert Per THIS ARTICLE. Sure, there are many of them (NDV of course, Dave Kerzner, Randy McStine even...), but none of those have fully really grabbed me in the way Kevin did,..or just in some way. Nick I do appreciate his talents and him working with many bands..I suppose mostly Spock's Beard of course. But for whatever reason, beyond his fronting of Spock's, his solo music never has gone far like Kevin, Casey, Matt Mahaffey or Bryan Scary..but thus dude

Jake Allen from Michigan..I dunno..I'm really really loving much of his music. The textures, lyrics, dynamics, blending of styles..although not super diverse and weird..it's enough for me to appreciate.

Record Store Day Items list #1: 5 or more items (2012-2025)

This is the preliminary list, and only with 5 or more from actual Record Store Day (and not Black Friday Record Store Day).

The Black Friday List I will edit-in or post in another entry.

And then combine the 2 to get some kind of approximate Net totals for the Leaders/Most.

I was just thinking of trying to have these graphed out, although it would have to be with a free relatively easy-to-use platform (Google Docs may even be able to do that).

But also a long/longer RANT and YouTube Video(s) about my contention that Record Store Day/Black Friday Record Store Day has a lot of the same artists, while many artists have rarely if ever had Special Releases.

I'm also unfortunately concerned about my cat Mocha's health right now as she is dealing with for the 2nd time in a few months, some kind of upper Respiratory Infection (a cold?) as she has been sneezing intermittently the past 24+ hours, Which may dictate how soon a video and more of this stuff will show up. But hopefully soon (and a 2025 RSD video with or without the wife)

Rory McIlroy..Timberwolves

RORY MCILROY wins The Masters FINALLY!

I'm totally happy for Rory. Sad for Justin Rose though. Rose is 44, been around forever, and may not get many more chances to win The Masters. But maybe like Nicklaus, he could do it next year? Oddly, I used to kind of not care for Justin Rose when him and Mickelson had a bit of a conflict. But now? I feel the opposite. I totally like Justin Rose. Phil? of course he is largely responsible for LIV gaining momentum and pulling players from the PGA tour.

But with McIlroy

This season, Rory's won Pebble Beach, The Players and now The Masters.

I think after finally winning a Major again (after 11 years) and completing the Career Grand Slam, it seems the pressure he had is now lifted. I wouldn't be surprised to see him win another 5 Majors in the next 10 years.

The same kind of thing happened to Mickelson. It took him many years to finally win a Major, which was The Masters in 2004. And then he won 4 more over the next 9 years (+1 more a couple of years ago at the PGA). And Phil was close to the same age (34) as Rory is now (35) when he won that 1st Major at Augusta in 2004.

But if Rory won 5 more, he'd be at 10 which would put him in sole 4th place behind Nicklaus (18), Tiger (15) and Walter Hagen (11). I guess we'll see, but I sense Rory's not going to stress so much about winning another Major and of course the career Grand Slam and The Masters.

I could see him winning a few more Masters actually, like Phil did. He is good enough, although he's maybe the best ball striker on the tour still. Like most players, his short game and putter make or break his ability to win. I think also part of it is mental toughness and getting past the bad holes. The missed birdie putts or occasional bogey or even double bogey, knowing 1 hole doesn't end your chances of winning. You just get through it and move on to the next hole and round.

Timberwolves face The Lakers

So, playing the Lakers in the 3 vs 6 matchup is better than being in the Play-In. And dealing with Doncic. I think this could go 1 of a few ways.

REVENGE on Luka and being the underdog.

Unsure, but I totally hope the Wolves and ANT especially take it upon them in this series as a Revenge to last Season and Luka. The way he had his way in that Dallas series with them, but in truth, the Wolves put so much into the Nuggets series, Luka and Kyrie just caught the Wolves off-guard. And the Wolves were out of gas, plus I still firmly believe Ant was not 100%. I know, Luka wasn't either, blah blah blah.

Also beating the Lakers would in some ways be REVENGE for 2004 too.

FOULS

February 27 2025 Lakers 111 Wolves 102.

Lakers shot 46 Free Throws.

46 FUCKING FREE THROWS!

Yeah, no conspiracy there.

If the officiating gets trigger happy, and the Lakers shoot a shit ton of FT's, than the Conspiracy is in Full-Force.

Adam Silver and his league needing fans to get ratings/viewers for the Lakers, LeBron and Luka deep playoff run. And those Parlays.

In other words, if the Lakers win, the Conspiracy and the Foul disparity will be of myself and many's beliefs.

If it's close or the Wolves do win? not so much.

Per on paper, the Wolves are a better, deeper team. They are bigger, better defensively, have way more players to hit 3's. And have been playing a lot better of late.

I guess we'll see. I do think some guys like Randle, DiVincenzo, NAW and even Jaylen Clark could play a big role in how well this series goes for The Wolves.

And also if Ant just goes off. If he goes off, it may negate Luka or LeBron.

Record Store Day History...

I'm working on something about the History of Record Store Day. Namely the Special Releases and the lists in regards to Artist Statistics.

Unsure when I'll be able to put it up in here and also a Video on YouTube..but if the time is allowed, it could be pretty soon.

Paige Bueckers...

 NCAA National Championships

Paige Bueckers 1

Caitlin Clark 0

Nuff said.

edit:

omg, so fucking predictable. The Clark rubes won't shut up on Social Media about Strong and Fudd won the game for UCONN and they didn't need Bueckers.

BULL FUCKING SHIT!

Strong and Fudd had BETTER GAMES than her, sure.

But having Bueckers on the floor drew defense in BOTH GAMES in the Final 4.

What did I say about MAKING HER TEAMMATES BETTER??????????? HUHHHHHHHHH?

Did Paige have her best game? Did she have a GREAT game? not exactly on paper, BUT SHE DIDN'T NEED TO.

HER PRESENCE ON THE COURT (drawing the South Carolina Defense constantly), her Defense and avoiding turnovers, grabbing loose balls among so many other things NOT SHOWING UP ON THE STAT SHEET still supports HER VALUE.

Idiots..but not surprising.

WNBA tho..we'll see..some of these mofos are gonna have to shut the fuck up.

Broadcast News quote...(cited frequently from Dan Barreiro)

"You're just absolutely right. And I am absolutely wrong. It must be nice to always believe you know better. To always think you're the smartest person in the room."

This captures the endless narcissistic personality of people on Social Media and in several mediums.

The perception and belief of the actual dialogue totally fits on what this character Paul Moore from Broadcast News, played by Peter Hackes. Especially the 2nd line in red.

There are endless/countless people who the most important thing in their life is to feel empowered by feeling like they are right and someone else is wrong. That they are better, bigger, wiser, and SUPERIOR to others.

And online, they do it incessantly to stroke their ego and in many cases, hiding behind the veil of anonymity.

Am I? I suppose at points I am, and I do feel safe doing so in a passive-aggressive manner here and other outlets (even non-published). But it does come down to is it more important to try and air and say my peace so others may learn or at least be aware of it?

Sometimes yes, sometime no. Because if I'm talking to a wall, maybe a long time from now more may find it and benefit from that. But in the short term, it does feel like talking to a wall.

But, regardless of little reach it may have in here, or other spots, I do feel especially in here, it is therapeutic FOR ME no matter what.

April Fools and Eggmen....

So, this was kind of fun/funny to do, of course on of all days, today.

And the subject just crossed my mind, today should be an annual day to listen to that Fair to Midland tune.

But, I've been meaning to write something more about Social Media, specifically YouTube. The etiquette and maybe a few other housekeeping items,

When someone sees your channel or a video you post, especially in the case where they themselves have a channel of their own. They may subscribe and leave comments and like. If they are a YouTuber themselves, they know part of what is beneficial is to comment and like.

But I just know there's plenty of YouTubers and even just people on the different Social Media platforms that do not do this. It's mostly just a 1-WAY STREET.

They want you to watch their videos (or just follow or like their posts on other socials), subscribe, like and comment. But it does seem others like myself have to almost blatantly spell it out to gain their attention to even be aware of my channel or socials. And even if I do that, they may subscribe and maybe they will comment and like (if watch) 1 or 2 videos or for like a week or 2.

And in many cases, they don't even do that.

Unless they see your channel (or Social Media account) as more impressive or bigger and something that if others are giving you attention, than they may as well.

But when you don't have the large numbers of subscribers or followers, they don't necessarily.

That is PLAYING THE FAVORITES.

It's selifish, or lazy, or judgemental, or just kind of passive-agressive.

Social Media and it seems a lot of YouTube should be A GIVE AND TAKE.

I scratch your back, and you scratch mine.

But if you don't have "status" to be appealing enough to them (1000 or even way more subscribers), it really doesn't seem to matter how many times you like, comment and even pass their videos along (and how much detail your comment has), they still don't give a shit enough about YOUR channel to follow-suit.

I mean I will confess, there are people who have subscribed to my channel who I check out their own channel and I don't subscribe. But almost all of those cases, either the content on their channel doesn't appeal to me (and is next to nothing like my content), or their content is very limited anyway.

But I'd say at least 3/4 of the time someone subscribes to me, and I look at their YouTube page and they include something I remotely can relate to or enjoy, I will subscribe.

And I would say I do make an effort to leave them comments on topics I can comment about.

But there are several channels I comment on, or did comment on, pretty detailed and somewhat regularly, who have yet to ever leave even 1 comment on any of my 776 Videos. And even in some cases, the subject matter (mostly music and Prog), they have made videos themselves about. And in at least 1 or 2 examples, I noticed said music (band/album), done after I talked about it.

In other words, they are mooching off my work, my channel, etc, and yet I've never seen them once admit or acknowledge that. It's like it would kill them to do so, because they don't like to admit that a smaller channel actually introduced them to something.

I mean it could be that they just don't like to give credit to other channels. I can only half understand that per the whole idea of  "well, if I shout out this channel, well then I have to shout every other channel" chore. And then they'll forget people.

But, that doesn't change the fact they are finding something and telling YouTube about it, and not being fully honest how they found it. Maybe the *how* shouldn't really matter? I just see it as lazy if not practicing being a favorites player.

"You know it wouldn't take a lot for people to help other less successful people easily, but they often don't" -J. Rudess (on "The Great Escape" on KFAI radio in 2002)

You know, and it does extend beyond YouTube. Go back to twitter and 89.3. I was talking about Local Natives and Warpaint long before most there, and yet never even once got any kind of due. It's lame, unfair, and something that I will never consider justified. But its happened and will continue to happen.

I would even say, many channels and Social Media I continue to comment-to or like on, that I guess I don't expect as much from given my feeling about the people. But I'm not certain how long or consistent I will continue to do that just based on the fact they don't reciprocate back to me. Not enough.

It really should be a GIVE and TAKE. But so many people, some I do have closer relationships with and want to help them out as much as I can genuinely, I don't think see using YouTube and Social Media that way.

They don't see it like a Social Contract to be using and trying to promote their own content. They see it as, ok, here's my video or post, please like it and share it, etc. But thanks for doing that, however the thought never crossed my mind to do the same for you who chimed in.

Maybe it's a lack of time? I dunno, but at some point, I have to draw a line and just say, sorry, I can't anymore. I have done that with some. But I also feel like given I'm at 776 Videos. Once I hit 1000 Videos, I may just to do a HIATUS for at least long form videos until I hit 1000 Subscribers.

No exceptions.

Sorry, I've made 1000 videos, I deserve 1000 subscribers. And until that happens, my focus may be other outlets like this and the Substack. I might do Shorts or TikTok as I've mentioned. Or I may do an audio and/or video podcast. Mixcloud, Soundcloud, or just on Substack even. Unsure.

I mean it's 224 videos away, so that is probably over a year, maybe 2. And that may be enough videos and time to finish some of these projects I've done, I dunno.

But at least my feeling is given the lack of GIVE-AND-TAKE and reception/attention/recognition for my YouTube channel, if I put the time and effort into making 1000 fucking videos, I should be able to at least get 1000 subscribers as well. (probably way more actually, but I'm trying to be as realistic as possible).

Paige Bueckers..and some other Hoops notes

Some thoughts and observations:

PAIGE BUECKERS…and CAITLIN CLARK

Paige Bueckers basically said sorry Oklahoma, not gonna happen. Scoring a career high 40 points tonight in the Sweet 16 in a game that was basically over midway through the 3rd quarter.

It sucks she will not be able to play against USC with Juju Watkins again, who beat Connecticut earlier this season. I feel for Juju and USC, but I still want to see UConn beat them, even though if they do, it will sort of feel like it would need an asterisk.

But let’s say Paige and UConn win on Monday against USC. Looking at the bracket, I think they would end up playing the winner of UCLA vs LSU in the Semifinal on Friday.

And if UCONN were to win that, they could face South Carolina potentially.

If they win the National Championship, all the Caitlin Clark loudmouths are gonna have to back off.

Yeah, first off, that still needs to happen, but 2nd, the argument of Bueckers and Clark will be decided in the WNBA. And Bueckers will likely end up with Dallas who have the 1st pick in the draft.

That kind of sucks, but I get it. Fair is fair. And while I came to not care for the Mavericks and Dallas sports in general (Cowboys..who I once actually liked as a kid per I was a Tony Dorsett fan, but then the Herschel Walker trade happened and the Cowboys won 3 Super Bowls while the Vikings, well remained the Vikings, even with Moss; also to include the Dallas Stars who probably still should be in Minnesota), I can’t hold their WNBA franchise responsible so much for being annoyed by the Mavericks team and their fans from the aftermath of the playoff series with the Wolves last season.

And most of that was not caring for Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, and seeing the Wolves being a superior team, which I still do (I will likely always contend, the Wolves were out of gas, but had they played Dallas in the 1st round, the Wolves would have beaten them, maybe handily), but that’s also very different now with the trade, and where they are at now.

But if Paige goes to Dallas, I will actually hope her team does well, and see how to she does against the rest of the league, including the Lynx. But the Indiana Fever game(s) could be a must-see.

The Dallas Wings play in the same conference as the Lynx, but the Indiana Fever are in the East, so Bueckers and Clark would only play twice during the season. And if they met in the playoffs, it would have to be in the WNBA Finals. Same would hold true if Bueckers were on the Lynx.

Which I think like Lindsay Whalen, depending how things go, I think eventually, there will be effort to try and get Bueckers to the Lynx. It may be many years (like Whalen), but it will be brought up often. Like Dave Winfield, Paul Molitor and several others. McHale sadly never did get to play for the Wolves, but I imagine there may have been interest. He was too loved/and loved it too much in Boston I suppose.

But we will hopefully see, and my belief and contention, Bueckers has the chance and could easily be a better WNBA player than Clark. If she stays healthy of course (which is a big part of course given her injuries in college). But she’s a more skilled player overall, and as I’ve said many times, she’s a better athlete. She’s a better defensive player, and honestly, regardless of how many assists Clark gets, Bueckers is better at making her teammates better.

She has that whole cliche of a high basketball IQ. Clark? to me, she is basically a great shooter and she is good at drawing the defense. But it’s not like she could play all 5 positions, but Bueckers? it seems she could. In the WNBA she will be a guard, but she can play in the post and she can rebound. And even though they are about the same height, Paige is LONG, which makes her even more a threat potentially on defense.

I just think all these naive people who kissed Clark’s butt the last couple of years, failed to do any research and realize coming up in the different levels, Bueckers WAS BETTER. They knew and played each other regularly. They played with each other on some of the National Teams. And actually Clark wanted to go to UCONN, but Auriemma already had promised a spot for Bueckers and couldn't have foreseen the 2 of them together. Which, might have happened anyway, but didn’t.

However, given Clark’s being from Iowa, like Bueckers (whose from Hopkins, MN), likely grew up a Lynx fan. I mean she may have also been a fan of Chicago or Indiana, but the Lynx and Minneapolis were naturally the closest team geographically for her.

So, I suppose Clark also wanting to play close-to-home could end up with the Lynx. Or even both at some point? I kind of doubt it, but it wouldn’t be impossible. Paige likely will be able to play multiple positions, so they actually could both start.

What sort of sucks in retrospect about Bueckers and Clark in some ways is they both could have also ended up in college at Minnesota. But, that’s a broken record and most of the best players in Minnesota or surrounding areas don’t come to Minnesota still. I thought I read, Minnesota did recruit Clark (and Bueckers), but that is a revisionist fantasy pipe dream from a Minneota sports fan now.

But we’ll see over the coming weeks and then months. Seeing the idiots on Social Media though is still going to happen. But if UCONN were to win, no matter, Bueckers would have that. And that believed respect from those WNBA people that took shots at Clark last year for not winning title. I dunno, many of them went to UCONN, so maybe publicly they would give Bueckers a pass if she didn’t win given she’s from the same school. That would be a bit of a double standard.

My feeling though is even if UCONN don’t win the NCAA championship, the WNBA is what will really be indicative of how they compare. Again, health permitting.

COOPER FLAGG

Cooper Flagg while appearing to be probably the best player in the country, I have seen several other guys much like him. Lauded and considered 1 of if not the best players in college, that were a bust or merely a mediocre or role player in the NBA. Including from DUKE.

Adam Morrison? ..even Keith Van Horn

I honestly would hardly be surprised if the same happened to Flagg. He could easily get pushed around or just not be quick enough to warrant the hype he probably will get.
